Job Description
Collaborates to deliver expert counsel and advice on the legal aspects of activities, contracts, policies, procedures, plans, and objectives of the hospital. Engages with administrative leaders and personnel across the organization on their legal obligations and duties, including coordination with outside legal counsel and consultants, to address critical legal matters affecting System-affiliated entities and personnel.
Job Responsibility
1. Provides recommendations on the full scope of legal matters affecting the organization and its affiliated hospitals and other corporations.
2.Partners with issues in the legal and business context in which they arise, seeks out information and colleagues to assist such understanding and responds to issues promptly, clearly and thoughtfully and objectively.
3.Applies advanced knowledge of the various laws, regulations, and case law impacting the operations of the organization, its affiliated hospitals, and corporations, while staying current with their evolution.
4.Strives to maintain an awareness of the activities of the organization, its constituent hospitals and other corporations to provide more comprehensive up-to-date legal advice.
5.Identifies areas which could benefit from proactive action by corporate and hospital personnel in order to minimize liability and other risks and works with such personnel to develop programs, policies and procedures to address the impact of such risks, laws and regulations.
6.Partners with other members of the Legal Affairs Department, organization personnel and outside professionals in formulating analyses, advice and recommendations and conveys recommendations in a clear and analytical manner.
7.Provides recommendations to organization personnel on risk management practices and potential malpractice and other liability issues, coordinates such recommendations with the Risk Management and Quality Management departments.
8.Promotes and participates in the development and implementation of corporate compliance efforts, as requested.
9.Drives activities with other members of Legal Affairs Department, fostering a team working environment.

Job Qualification
*Juris Doctor and admission to New York State Bar required.
*15+ years of relevant experience and 5 years of leadership / management experience, required.
