Job Description

PURPOSE:

This position is responsible for leading the Human Resource function and managing the union relationship at Wyman Gordon Houston (WGH). WGH encompasses Energy and Turbine plants at the Telge Campus in Houston, two Texas Honing Inc (THI) plants in Houston and a machining operation in Monterrey Mexico. The role includes overseeing the Employee Full Lifecycle experience (staffing, on-boarding, performance management, training, compensation, etc.), Employee Relations, Benefits Administration, Federal and State Law Compliance, Records Retention, and Community Relations. To fulfill these responsibilities, the incumbent must establish and maintain the official relationship between the Company and the Union representing factory employees at our WG Houston location; provide day-to-day administration of the collective bargaining agreement; ensure compliance with all federal and state labor and workers' compensation laws, including wage and hour laws; develop and implement personnel policies; and offer guidance and direction to department employees who administer daily activities in Medical, Benefits, and Recruiting. Training, Leadership Development, and Staffing are also important functions across various facilities.

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Bachelor's degree in business
  • Advanced degree in Human Resource Management and Labor Relations or equivalent work experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of leadership development practices as well as Human Capital Planning - Talent Management.
  • Knowledge of state and federal laws and regulations in the areas of wage and hour laws, employment law, and workers' compensation.
  • Prior collective bargaining experience and responsibility for overseeing existing collective bargaining agreements

SPECIAL SKILLS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

The Human Resource Director must possess an analytical mind that provides creative solutions to day-to-day problems and an ability to relate to employees at all levels of the organization. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is required
