Complexity of the Role
Team Leaders are expected to:
* Use logic & reason to make sound business decisions based on DSM policies, processes, and procedures
* Understand the process and troubleshoot basic problems that arise
* Use differing managerial tools to motivate employees
* Understand and work within the culture of the organization
* Think beyond a transaction mindset

In this role you will
* Accept personal responsibility for your own safety and health and that of your colleagues.
* Provide performance evaluations for your direct reports
* Carry out the production schedule to meet customer orders
* Take full accountability for the supervision of all operators on his or her shift and the duties to be completed.
* Enter data into SAP for to complete batches
* Provide support during emergency responses
* Work within the boundaries of the collective bargaining agreement
* Follow legal & corporate requirements and Manufex work processes regarding SHE and good housekeeping, resulting in no incidents and continuous improvement of SHE results
* Be responsible for a safe and healthy working environment, adequate SHE performance, and continuous focus on SHE awareness
* Execution of SHE audits according to the annual plan
* Lead, organize, and supervise the quality, flexibility, and exchangeability of the team on the different working places, in order to meet planned quantities to be produced by the shift
* Participate in the daily production meetings and report deviations which have a SHE, quality, or yield impact and production delays which have a capacity impact.
* Maintain KOP (key operating parameters) in the operating window as defined in the SOP's
* Give a preliminary diagnosis for causes of KOP deviations
* Ensure efficient and effective verbal and written handover at shift change and ensure that all relevant production issues have been brought to the attention of the next shift Team Leader
* Check the information that is written by the operators in the log sheets and sign them
* Report to management in case of deviation/unsafe situation that can't be returned to normal
* Support the introduction of new products
* Contribute pro-actively to the continuous improvement of processes, working environment, and standards, based on theoretical and practical knowledge of the processes and equipment
* Coordinate activities executed by contractors and assure compliance with all relevant SHE requirements
* Ensure there is effective training of new operators
* Participate in and make proposals for the change of SOP's and protocols
* Report breakdowns to the production manager with a comprehensive description and preliminary fault diagnosis
* Sign and authorize maintenance (safe) work permits and communicate related maintenance activities to shift members
* Is aware and has access to the risk level classifications in the plant and to the MOC files which have an impact on the plant
* Authorize and sign the override of equipment depending on the risk level and according to the override procedure
* Responsible for your staff to practice HR structures and systems, in line with DSM and HR guidelines and systems, and manage, coach and motivate employees, in order to guarantee a motivated, trained, and committed workforce that meets current and future requirements in terms of quality, quantity, and people development

What You Offer

Basic Qualifications:

  • BS Degree and 6 years of experience or Associates degree with 6 years of experience or 11 years of experience with a High school diploma
  • Per OFCCP, basic qualifications must be non-comparative, objective, related to the job (hint: something you can tell from a resume. It can't be something like good communication skills)

Shift Schedule

  • It is a repeating schedule every two week.
  • It follows the 2-2-3 format.
  • The team leads switch from nights to days on a 6-week frequency

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Chemical industry experience preferred but not required

Essential Knowledge and Skills:

  • Solid communication and team working skills
  • Team player who defaults to collaboration beyond his/her shift
