Summary

Spire Midstream is seeking an Engineer, Midstream Processes to join its midstream engineering team. The Engineer, Midstream Processes will be the technical resource support for matters related to compression, transmission/gathering / separation of natural gas and associated liquids, natural gas treatment, acid gas removal, and NGL extraction technologies employed at our facilities. This role is focused on assisting with plant process surveillance, troubleshooting, leading process studies, supporting process modeling to troubleshoot threats, and identifying enhancement and improvement opportunities for the facility's production operations. In addition, this position will work closely with the Midstream Operations teams and Midstream project teams to support major projects and/or lead projects required by operations. This position reports to the Director, Midstream Engineering.

Duties and Responsibilities

* Assist in the monitoring and troubleshooting of plant operations to optimize efficiency

* Support the development and execution of process simulations to investigate system responses and support diagnostics

* Help in proposing design solutions and performance test requirements to enhance production or solve process-related incidents

* Participate in the development and use of process surveillance tools that improve process efficiency and provide production optimization

* Assist in preliminary cost estimates and schedules for capital and facility upgrade projects.

* Participate in Process Hazards Analysis (PHA) and Hazard and Operability Reviews (HAZOP) under supervision to ensure safety in design and operations

* Support with the Management of Change (MOC) process

* Support Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) process

* Support development and tracking of appropriate Key Performance Indicators

* Provide day-to-day troubleshooting support to Operations teams

* Contribute to ensuring engineering and operations requirements are considered in ongoing plant operations, major projects and turnaround activities

* Manage the work of outside consultants performing process related functions

* Extensive travel requirements to meet with, train and assist local asset operators in Wyoming, Oklahoma and Missouri. The expectation is that 2 out of 4 weeks per month will incorporate out-of-town travel.

* Work effectively with Spire's shared services organizations, including legal, treasury, accounting, etc.

* Support the forecasting of monthly and daily injection and withdrawal volume capability for storage

* Other duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibilities
Required Education (certifications, licenses)

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering discipline (e.g., Chemical, Mechanical, Metallurgy, Petroleum)
  • Minimum Experience Required: Minimum of 5 years' experience in process engineering related to LNG, NGL, cryogenic / natural gas processing and separation, petrochemical, or other similar types of hydrocarbon processing.
  • Home base work location: Houston, TX

Required knowledge, skill and abilities

* Solid understanding of all aspects of the physical gas value chain (i.e., Upstream, Midstream, and Downstream)

* Familiarity with Microsoft Office 365 Application Suite

* Familiarity with process safety management and safety study applications, including HAZOP and PHA

* Familiarity with ASME, API and NACE/AMPP recommended practices

* Familiarity with process simulation software

* Practical experience with process control systems

* Generating process design simulations, Design Basis', PFDs, Utility Load Lists, Equipment List, equipment sizing, and leading or conducting process studies

* P&ID development

* Cross office coordination with high value engineering centers

* Typical process engineering calculations such as hydraulics, separation, relief valves, design pressures and temperatures, vessel and tower sizing, etc.

* Greenfield and brownfield FEED or EPC project experience

* Knowledge of gas industry regulatory process at both state and federal levels

Travel up to 50%
