Responsible for overseeing Workers' Compensation (WC) claims across Company administered by claim service providers and driving optimal outcomes, serving as primary liaison for both internal and external stakeholders for claim-related issues. Job Description Summary:
Position Overview:
Protects the assets of the Company from the financial impact of workers' compensation claims and lawsuits while ensuring maximum performance from FedEx Workers' Compensation third party administrator (TPA) and defense counsel. Directs and controls the administration of serious to complex litigated and non-litigated Workers' Compensation claims and related statutorily derivative liability claims asserted against FedEx Companies. Evaluates the exposure to FedEx associated with those claims and decides the appropriate course of action to best protect FedEx from undue loss and to mitigate associated costs. Provides technical direction and training to third party administrators, outside defense counsel, internal customers, and coworkers to ensure compliance with applicable statutes and related rules and regulations in all fifty states and Canada.

Provide oversight for WC claims meeting established criteria/thresholds within defined geographic area, in compliance with oversight guidelines and expectations. Utilize metrics and dashboard reporting to identify focus file WC claims for oversight. Serve as liaison to internal and external stakeholders for WC claim specific related matters (e.g., investigation, RTW accommodation escalations). Authorize WC reserves and settlements at established authority levels. Perform other duties as assigned.

Provide oversight for WC claims meeting established criteria/thresholds within defined geographic area, in compliance with oversight guidelines and expectations Utilize metrics and dashboard reporting to identify focus file WC claims for oversight Serve as liaison to internal and external stakeholders for WC claim specific related matters (e.g., investigation, RTW accommodation escalations) Promote WC litigation avoidance through employee advocacy and initiative-taking resolution of urgent claim issues Assure WC claim discovery and interrogatory response is completed (litigated claims) Authorize WC reserves and settlements at established authority levels Participate in WC claim strategy discussions focusing on early resolution in accordance with company settlement philosophy Apply aggressive litigation cost management strategy on individual WC claim files Ensure WC vendors are complying with service instructions and guidelines and escalate specific issues to Manager Confirm initial and ongoing TPA reporting of WC claims requiring excess notification, and escalate claims meeting defined criteria to Manager Escalate WC claim related issues and opportunities for program improvement to Manager Adhere to quality management and compliance protocols
Skills/Knowledge/Experience Considered a Plus:
Software skills, including Microsoft Office, RMIS systems and web-based applications. Verbal and written communication skills necessary to communicate with all levels of management and third-party providers Time management, organizational and multi-tasking skills necessary to work in a fast-paced environment, handling various tasks and changing priorities, while maintaining a high attention to detail and accuracy to achieve daily assignments and goals.
Work Location(s)/Domicile:
This position may be located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania or Memphis, Tennessee. Depending on your location, you may be required to work at a FedEx Campus location several times per week.
Relocation:
Minimum Education Bachelor's Degree/or equivalent in Risk Management, Business, Finance, or related field. Minimum Experience Five (5) years experience with Worker's Compensation claims. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Excellent human relations, oral and written communication, analytical, problem solving, leadership, negotiation, and organizational skills. PC literate, including Microsoft Office products. If this opportunity includes multiple job levels, the range is a reasonable estimate of the current starting salary for the lowest level to the current starting salary of the highest level. Actual starting pay would be determined by experience relative to the job, market level, pay at the location for this job and other job-related factors permitted by law.
