STS Technical Services is hiring an Electromechanical Technician to join a dedicated on-site team in Indianapolis, Indiana, supporting the installation, assembly, and testing of advanced aerospace test equipment-primarily for auxiliary power units (APUs) and aerospace components.
This is a long-term, hands-on role based at a clean, customer-dedicated aerospace facility, offering steady work and growth opportunities for technicians with a passion for precision, autonomy, and high-performance equipment.
Position Overview:
As an Electromechanical Technician, you will assemble, wire, and test specialized test equipment used in aerospace applications. You'll interpret technical drawings, work closely with engineers and field managers, and support both installation and verification tasks related to engine testing systems. Your work will directly impact the successful deployment of mission-critical aerospace equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work on-site daily at a customer-dedicated facility in Indianapolis; support nearby sites as needed
- Assemble and wire test systems and control panels based on schematics and technical drawings
- Collaborate with engineers to identify and resolve discrepancies in layout or documentation
- Perform system testing and light troubleshooting of mechanical and electrical systems
- Participate in operational test cycles involving APU or component-level aerospace testing
- Accurately document work performed using internal timekeeping and reporting systems
- Support after-sales service or warranty tasks, as needed
- Follow all OSHA and customer-specific safety protocols; complete required safety training
- Suggest improvements in assembly methods or field techniques when applicable
Technical Scope:
- Focused hands-on work including mechanical assembly, panel wiring, and system testing
- Some exposure to PLC systems; PLC troubleshooting performed only if skilled
- All work performed in clean, aerospace-grade environments with clear safety standards
Required Qualifications:
- Associate degree or technical certification in Electro-Mechanics or related field
- At least 2 years of hands-on experience in field service, installation, or test system support
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and schematics
- Proficiency in both mechanical and electrical systems
- Strong sense of ownership, accountability, and customer service
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
Preferred Qualifications:
- OSHA 30 certification (or willingness to complete upon hire)
- Experience working on APU or aerospace component test systems
- Willingness to travel beyond Indianapolis as project needs expand
Reporting Structure:
- Reports to an on-site Field Manager in Indianapolis
- Technical oversight and project coordination provided by a Project Engineer based in Montreal
- Employment contract and performance evaluations managed by the Production Supervisor in Montreal
