Job Description

Position Summary:

The DTE Medical and External Affairs Technology team is playing a crucial role in enabling our commercial expansion as Vertex commercializes into new disease areas and brings more transformative medicines to patients around the world.

As the Scientific Content and Publications Platform Lead, you will be responsible for overseeing the technology implementation and operations, including but not limited to platform enhancements and vendor relationships, for scientific content and publications software platforms supporting global medical affairs team. This role focuses on ensuring the integrity, scalability, and performance of our publication strategy and planning platforms while driving innovation and alignment with business objectives.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Datavision or equivalent, other content technologies such as document management, literature monitoring etc., and security, accessibility, platform integrations and compliance.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Own iEnvision Datavision system and connected document management systems and platforms including their enhancements and operations.
  • Create and manage overall system standards, processes, and procedures particularly related to publications and content technology ecosystem.
  • Identify and prioritize platform enhancements, ensuring compliance, scalability, security and optimal user experience.
  • Ensure system compliance with legal, privacy, and organizational requirements, good publications practice guidelines, and copyright regulations; assist with risk mitigation planning.
  • Oversee integrations with third-party tools, analytics platforms and enterprise systems to extend platform capabilities while maintaining system integrity.
  • Define and maintain system architecture, ensuring data security, performance, reliability and scalability.
  • Own and manage relationships with application vendors, managed service providers, and development teams to ensure seamless operations and delivery of services.
  • Support the contract management process, evaluate vendor performance, and ensure SLAs are being met and reported on.
  • Collaborate with vendors and partners to implement new capabilities, resolve incidents, and ensure adherence to best practices.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including Medical Affairs Business partners, Medical Writing Sciences, DTE, InfoSec & Privacy, and Delivery Teams to deliver solutions.
  • Establish metrics and reporting frameworks to track platform performance, uptime, delivery and user satisfaction.
  • Monitor trends emerging technologies to ensure the platform remains at the cutting edge.

Required Experience

  • 7+ years of experience in literature and publication platforms, digital platforms, or life sciences systems roles.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with medical affairs, scientific communication & publication processes, and technologies which support those processes (e.g. literature monitoring, publication workflow management, publication amplification, scientific communication platform).
  • Demonstrated project management abilities, including prioritization, time management, and adherence to deadlines.
  • Experience gathering business requirements and translating them into prioritized product capability roadmaps.
  • Demonstrated experience managing vendors, including application vendors, managed service providers and development teams.
  • Experience collaborating with on and off-shore agile development teams, as well as communicating with various stakeholders with varying degrees of technical aptitude.
  • Experience with content management platforms, APIs, and cloud services a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work in fast-paced environments.
  • Life Science or Pharmaceutical Industry experience preferred.

Required Knowledge/Skills

  • Strong understanding of Agile or Scrum methodologies and developer frameworks
  • Strong understanding of Medical Affairs role and processes
  • Strong understanding of publications practices such as Good Publications Practice (GPP) guidelines
  • Ability to clearly articulate requirements, identify gaps, mitigate issues, and reach consensus
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to effectively translate complex technical requirements for business stakeholders
  • Ability to stay abreast of industry and technology trends
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with the ability to adapt and change to business priorities
  • Problem-solving mindset and a proactive approach to challenges

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, or other related technology degree.
  • Master's degree in a relevant field is preferred

Pay Range:

$158,400 - $237,600

The range provided is based on what we believe is a reasonable estimate for the base salary pay range for this job at the time of posting. This role is eligible for an annual bonus and annual equity awards. Some roles may also be eligible for overtime pay, in accordance with federal and state requirements. Actual base salary pay will be based on a number of factors, including skills, competencies, experience, and other job-related factors permitted by law.

1. Hybrid: work remotely up to two days per week; or select
