Position Description Summary: |
The George Washington University Medical Faculty Associates, an independent non-profit academic clinical practice group affiliated with The George Washington University, seeks a full-time, academic primary care physician to join our Division of General Internal Medicine (Department of Medicine), with a focus on weight management. This position provides the opportunity to develop and lead a new obesity clinic aimed at addressing obesity and related conditions through a multidisciplinary approach. This non-tenure-track faculty appointment, expected to start as early as Fall 2025, will be made at a rank (Instructor, Assistant) and salary commensurate with experience. |
Specific Duties and Responsibilities: |
Responsibilities include providing direct patient care in an outpatient setting, specializing in weight management, and assessing and treating obesity and related conditions. Responsibilities will also include leading the creation and development of an obesity clinic, designing programs and initiatives for effective patient care, and engaging in population health management and quality/safety initiatives. The faculty member will also participate in administrative duties and contribute to the teaching and mentorship of medical students, interns, residents, fellows, and other learners. Additionally, the faculty member will be able to pursue scholarly interests related to weight management and obesity medicine.
The faculty member will mentor and teach learners in a clinical setting as part of the institution's teaching mission. All faculty are expected to collaborate as part of a larger team to improve access to care, reduce costs, enhance quality, and promote better health outcomes. Faculty are encouraged to develop scholarly interests in weight management and may also be asked to engage in community outreach, attend professional events, and assist in building professional relationships to support the development and growth of the obesity clinic. A focus on timely, complete documentation and patient satisfaction is expected in this role. |
Minimum Qualifications: |
Applicants must be
ABIM-certified and eligible for licensure in the District of Columbia at the time of appointment. Applicants must also have a record of providing high-quality, high-value, evidence-based, and team-based patient care, outstanding teaching, and scholarly productivity with a dedication to professional growth. |
Advertised Salary: |
$135,000 to $195,000 |
