About the Opportunity:

The Staff Accountant will play a key role in supporting the finance operations at Pursuit Aerospace's Ohio and Illinois sites. Reporting to a multi-site Controller, this position also acts as a trusted on-site partner to the site leadership team. Core responsibilities include executing essential accounting functions such as month-end close, payroll processing, expense and travel oversight, and managing accounts payable. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong attention to detail and a focus on accuracy, working closely with the Corporate finance team and collaborating with other site finance personnel to ensure compliance with accounting standards and company policies-while contributing to the overall financial performance of the organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare journal entries and maintain portions of the general ledger.
  • Reconcile payroll activity for monthly bank reconciliations.
  • Perform month-end close, including recurring journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Support month-end and year-end close, year-end audits, journal entries, account analysis, and reconciliations, including intercompany transactions.
  • Maintain accurate cost accounting records, review labor hours and material costs, investigate discrepancies, and take corrective actions as needed.
  • Manage accounts receivable functions, including invoicing, payment application, and monitoring outstanding balances to ensure timely collections and accurate financial reporting.
  • Ensure inventory accuracy by conducting cycle counts and reviewing reported results.
  • Monitor employee credit card expenses for compliance.
  • Ensure financial transactions and reporting are accurate and completed on time.
  • Adhere to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and internal controls.
  • Participate in supporting ad hoc projects.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance or a minimum of 5 years of relevant accounting experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong proficiency in Excel, including v-lookups, index/match, pivot tables, sorting, filtering, and formatting.
  • Knowledge of basic accounting principles and procedures.
  • Familiarity with financial reporting and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.

Compensation & Benefits:

This is a full-time position with a competitive salary, based on experience. We offer a competitive benefit package, including health and disability insurance, 401(k) match, paid time off, and company-paid holidays.

Must be willing and able to work onsite full-time in Cleveland, OH. This position is not eligible for relocation.
