The Senior Procurement Manager - North America Luxury is a multi-faceted role whose primary objectives are built around providing effective & efficient professional procurement support to the North America Luxury business. The role will have direct category management responsibility for the Store Design & Visual Merchandising category, responsible for the co-definition & deployment of category strategies for North America spend in synchronization with global & regional category strategies based on related business priorities, strategic SC and procurement frameworks (e.g. ways of working in matrix) and continuous alignment with relevant business partners within the organization to enhance effective Business Partnering. Responsible for contract handling, negotiation and all procurement activities assigned for North America spend & local responsibility [CT1] and suppliers within the space, against the overall target to increase the procurement value contribution (e.g. cost development, supply security, improved services, agility, innovation etc.) using the full range of options available in the market. For all other marketing & indirect related categories the role will help facilitate the effective management of this spend across the North America Luxury business by coordinating with other roles within the local & global teams having category responsibility for these areas across both the Skincare & Luxury business.

The role will also be responsible to ensure that all Beiersdorf procurement policies & processes are adhered to as necessary across the Luxury space. Providing guidance, training, governance & general support to the business as required. Reporting to the North America Procurement Director, this role will be based out of the US headquarters in Stamford, CT. and will be subject to the Hybrid Working Policy which does require three days in the office(s) which will include the Stamford office as well as the Chantecaille & La Prairie offices in New York City.

We are looking for an individual who can get going quickly ('check all the boxes') and may also bring a unique blend of competence and capabilities that can grow into a role and/or bring new skills to the team.

Key deliverables of the role will include but are not limited to the following:

Strategy & Governance
  • Conducting regular market research and analysis for own categories
  • Support global/regional strategies and define local strategies based on relevant market research and analysis
  • Responsible for strategy implementation according to defined activities by global/regional/local category strategy
  • Consulting global strategy development in similar categories within area as well as in the regions
  • Development and implementation of local/regional strategies
  • Work closely & collaboratively with team members on various strategic & operational topics as needed.
Procurement Business Partnering
  • Full authority in supplier selection, negotiation and contracting of local/regional frame conditions with suppliers (prices, TCO, payment terms, quality levels, etc.) for own categories towards objectives agreed with the demand owner or set by global/regional initiatives along the defined category roadmap
  • Contract management (coordination with legal depart., identifying need for templates, drafting templates together with legal dept. etc.)
  • Negotiate, review and maintain all contracts and Master Service Agreements (MSA) & Supply Agreements (SA) within areas of defined spend responsibility
  • Continuously monitoring the related activities for opportunities to enhance Procurement value contribution
  • Collaborate with demand owners on business strategies and or project objectives to select the best suppliers with the most cost effective and or beneficial solution.
  • Identify and implement cost savings and continuous improvement initiatives.
Performance Management
  • Responsible for performance of total spend in own category
  • Timely documentation of relevant Procurement KPI data (e.g. savings) as well as regular aggregation of data in order to manage the performance within own assigned area of responsibility
Procurement Processes & Systems
  • Responsible for compliance with legal requirements, Beiersdorf Procurement and non-Procurement procedures within own negotiations and contracts
  • Maintenance and quality assurance of relevant master data for supported negotiation/contracting processes (e.g. category spends, contractual terms, supplier data)
  • Actively drive process development with regards to standardization, efficiency and automation (incl. application of new technologies, implementation of purchase-related processes, methods and systems) and monitor process adherence
  • Content management of eCatalogues, and other automated order channels in order to increase automation
  • Provide operational support as needed for the systematic ordering of materials and services thru the defined "Purchase to Pay" process.
  • Support various administrative procurement tasks as required (i.e. organizational training, process documentation, reporting, etc.)
Supplier Management
  • Ensuring proper supplier selection (e.g. financial health, process knowhow, etc.) to minimize supply risks for the affiliates of Beiersdorf
  • Actively managing supplier relationships to ensure suppliers are able and willing to fulfill Beiersdorf supply requirements
  • Actively managing suppliers' critical issues timely as necessary, as needed
  • Actively working with suppliers to achieve innovative solutions
  • Complaint management for suppliers under their responsibility
Organizational Development
  • Continuous development of assigned area of responsibility and respective processes together with peers and managers to ensure innovative organization
  • Support effectives ways of working across the North America team as well as with Global colleagues to help ensure proper management & procurement support of all spend categories in the Luxury space.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in business / marketing or equivalent
  • 5 plus years strategic procurement experience, preferred category management experience in the "Store Design & Visual Merchandizing" space, particularly in sourcing visual merchandising materials, furniture, fixtures, and store design elements including "Shop Fitting"
  • Demonstrated experience with the creation & implementation process of visual merchandising strategies, and the understanding of store design concepts & specifications
  • Experience in Luxury Branding and or Retail preferred with Consumer Packaged Goods experience a plus
  • Demonstrable use of best in class sourcing tools and techniques (RFI, RFQ, category analysis and market research)
  • Proven experience in negotiating, contract review, supplier management principles and project management
  • Ability to work well within a cross-functional team in highly collaborative work environment
  • Experience working in fast paced environment with evolving deadlines
  • Proven strong stakeholder management skills
  • Demonstrated passion for procurement and driving of continuous improvement initiatives
  • Critical thinking skills, ability to find solutions to complex problems without guidance
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Demonstrates accountability for actions, learns from mistakes and applies takeaways
  • Excellent communication skills, ability to communicate at all levels

  • Microsoft suite of tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Knowledge of SRM/SAP/ERP/ E-Sourcing (Ariba)/Power BI systems desirable
  • Ability to travel up to 10%
