Summary

Assist in the overall administration of aid in the Office of Financial Aid. Respond to the needs of students, parents, College faculty/administrators, regarding federal, state, institutional and private aid programs.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
-
- Review student applications for consistency and completeness, and verify accuracy of student and family reported information.
- Perform award packaging using knowledge of federal and institutional needs analysis.
- Monitor and revise financial aid awards accordingly due to changes in enrollment, EFC, housing or resources.
- Review financial aid files by performing verification of data.
- Initiate follow up items requiring clarification or any file discrepancies.
- Review student records for C-flags and perform appropriate resolution.
- Perform accurate and thorough file documentation; maintain accuracy of database.
- Provide back-up support for administering and managing the Federal Direct Loan (DL) program. This includes Stafford Loan approval, reviewing/processing PLUS requests, and resolving COD rejects.
- Provide information, advice, and counsel financial aid recipients and applicants using knowledge of federal, state and institutional financial aid policies and regulations.
- Integrate financial counseling with student housing circumstances, academic goals, extracurricular plans and career objectives.
- Evaluate student concerns and requests regarding financial aid eligibility and awards, and take appropriate action concerning professional judgment and other appeals.
- Ensure regulatory, policy and procedural compliance for Federal, State, private and SXU aid programs; maintain knowledge by attending and participating in workshops and conferences on and off-campus.
- Model, support and facilitate quality customer service. Assist in representing the Office of Financial Aid campus-wide and at special events.

Qualifications
-
- Bachelor's degree required
- 2 or more years of experience in financial aid administration, or related experience, preferred
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and analytical skills
- Ability to prioritize, multi-task, perform well under pressure, and meet deadlines
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Strong computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office products; knowledge of financial aid software preferred
- Commitment to a liberal arts education
