Overview

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Director or designee, the Project Manager I leads small projects or subcomponents of larger, more complex projects. The Project Manager I is responsible for independent action on multiple projects as assigned. Tasks vary according to the priorities of the department.



Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    Lead project teams to ensure that project development and progress is timely, successful, and meets expectations
  • Identify and schedule project deliverables, milestones and outcomes
  • Identify and assess project risks and issues, recommend alternative courses of action and implement changes.
  • Track, compile and analyze project data. Develop status/progress reports and delivers presentations. Communicate updates/changes/deviations to Director in a timely manner
  • Schedule and coordinate project team meetings, including agenda prep, organizing materials and equipment
  • Track, document and maintain project reports, meeting minutes, decisions, schedules, finances, and other pertinent records
  • Initiate, create and maintain communication with project team, key personnel, and senior staff
  • Respond to internal and external requests for data/information
  • Provide direction to project support staff
  • Adhere to University, State and funding agency policies and procedures
  • Perform other duties as required


Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • 1-3 years of experience coordinating and planning projects
  • Ability to work collaboratively in teams to improve the operations of immediate work group by offering ideas and identifying issues
  • Demonstrate excellent analytical, organizational and time management skills. Utilize independent judgement.
  • Ability to provide a high level of customer service to faculty, staff, internal and external customers in a professional, service-oriented, respectful manner using skills in active listening and problem solving.
  • Experience with computer systems required, including Microsoft Office
  • Ability to travel to off-site locations.
