Buyer - 1st Shift ajc

Candidates MUST have experience with casting.

Responsibilities

* Purchase goods, materials, components, or services in line with specified cost, quality, and delivery targets.

* Support the purchasing function and communicate any supply problems impacting business operations.

* Act as an interface between suppliers and relevant departments on purchasing processes and new projects.

* Monitor and advise on issues presenting risk or opportunity to the organization.

* Monitor market trends, competitor strategies, and market suppliers.

* Provide analysis on costs and review cost reduction activities.

* Prepare reports and updates as required.

* Work closely with others in the procurement function to identify opportunities for improvement.

* Negotiate contracts and improve processes and terms of business with suppliers.

* Prepare and raise purchase orders and order schedules.

* Build and maintain supplier relationships and ensure good communication.

* Ensure compliance with company guidelines and purchasing policies during negotiations and contract awards.

* Conduct research for new components and suppliers.

* Contact suppliers to resolve price, quality, delivery, or invoice issues.

Requirements

* Bachelor's degree preferred.

* 5 plus years' experience in procurement and purchasing.

* Previous experience in a purchasing team, preferably within a manufacturing environment.

* Experience in purchasing castings and Outside Processing for a machine shop is beneficial.

* Strong communication, negotiation, interpersonal, and influencing skills.

* Analytical and numerically astute with strong problem-solving abilities.

* Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks.

* Commercial and financial awareness with an understanding of production impacts.

* Ability to work well under pressure and handle stressful situations.

* Keen attention to detail and accuracy.

* Familiarity with SAP is beneficial.
