LOCATION: Downers Grove DEPARTMENT: Production JOB TITLE: P.M. Line 3 Makeup Bake Shop Helper/Break Lunch Relief WORKDAY GRADE LEVEL: H003 BASE RATE PER HOUR: $23 SHIFT: 2nd # OF OPENINGS: 1 HOURS: Generally, starts as early as 1:45 PM until finish. Overtime and weekend work as needed. Starting times and hours may vary depending on coverage due to report-offs and the production schedule especially during holidays. Good attendance and punctuality required. JOB SUMMARY/JOB DUTIES: Covers various positions on Line 3 for breaks, lunches, call offs, and vacations. Positions covered include Divider Operator, Moulder Operator, Oven/Proofer Attendant, Pan Operator, and Slicer Feeder/Bagger Caser. See specific job descriptions for each of these positions. Responsible for monitoring, recording and maintaining product quality standards. Must follow 100% compliance to HACCP, CTS, SOP, Safety, GMPs, and JSA and can work successfully with minimal supervision. Fills ingredient bins at oven, feeds flash pans at oven, and moves pan trucks weighing up to 1500 lbs. Operator may be called upon to assist other Line 3 positions during operation and cover for vacations in any of these positions may be needed. Good communication skills required for relaying information to Supervisors, Maintenance and QA on issues needing attention. General cleaning/5S responsibilities of area assigned. Other duties as assigned. Moulder: Operates, sets up and adjusts Moulder. Must observe proper moulding of dough resulting in quality product. Lifting and reaching up to 10 lbs. to fill flour sifter on moulders. Lifting up to 15 lbs. may be required for pans of dough. Keeps conveyors scraped and unjams pans. Must understand and follow set HACCP/CTS/GMP/JSA standards. May be called upon to assist upon to assist other Line 3 positions during operation and other duties as requested. Pan Feeder: Places pans weighing approx. 6 lbs. on feed conveyor; removes pans from conveyor at downtime & at end of shift. Stacks pans on pan trucks; moves pan trucks weighing up to 1500 lbs. approx. 30 ft. at the beginning and end of shift. May be called upon to assist upon to assist other Line 3 positions during operation and other duties as requested. Divider: The primary responsibilities of this position are to setup the divider and monitor dough unit cut-weights for proper weight per variety (keeping them statistically in control to target and within set control limits), minimize product waste, and contain downtime. Ensure bread weight quality standards are maintained and label contents are aligned. This includes proper setup and adjustment of equipment of the divider, rounder, flour system as well as all conveyors and guides. Ability to determine needed adjustments to processing, to counter line downtime or plant temperatures effects set HACCP, CTS, GMP, and JSA standards related to this position. Ensure equipment care of all machines this position operates including pre-operational inspections, evaluation and communication to maintenance and supervision of equipment issues that arise. Responsible for line efficiency standards and accurate recording of line starts, stops and downtime. This position is required to write work notifications when non-immediate issues arise with equipment or within work area. Positions dusting flour bins (up to 600 lbs.). Needs basic math for figuring downtime and proper start times for changeovers. Must be able to follow instructions. Repetitive motion required. Other duties as assigned including but not limited to assisting in feeding pans, etc. Oven/Proofer Operator: Sets up and operates the Proofer, Oven, Depanner, water-slitter, seeder, topping machine and associated conveyors and guides for various products. Sets up proofer/oven temperature and speed; sets guides and conveyor speeds. Responsible for monitors product proofing and baking, making adjustments, recording and maintaining product quality standards. Sets up depanner, water-slitter, seeder and topping machine for various products changing templates/speeds. Requires some mechanical aptitude. Fills own ingredient bins for toppings. Operator may be called upon to assist other Line 3 positions during operation. Good communication skills required for relaying information to Supervisors, Maintenance and QA on issues needing attention. Other duties as assigned. Bagger/Caser: Checks bread quality. Cases product into baskets/cases, keeping up with line speed. Sets up and operates the Bagger and associated conveyors and guides. Responsible for monitoring, recording and maintaining product quality standards; proper wrap, bag print quality, bag closure, and proper product coding. Monitors bags for proper type (inclusive of checking label revision on bags). Must understand procedural aspects of product coding and code board. Speed and manual dexterity required. Racking and unracking bread as needed. May be called upon to assist other Line 3 positions during operation and other duties as requested. Slicer Feeder: Feeds bread into Slicers at an approximate rate of 55 loaves per minute. Continuously monitors the size, quality and weight of bread, reporting any variances to Supervision. Must start/stop Wrapper and Slicer according to line needs. Watches for and unjams bread on the Hartman slicer and Wrapper infeed. Checks for correct number of slices of bread. Must follow Break/Lunch schedule and communicate any changes in break/lunch schedule with supervisor. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Must possess a high school diploma, general education degree (GED) or equivalent. Two years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience. SUPERVISOR: Supervisor on Duty Individual base pay depends on work location and additional factors such as experience, job-related skills, and relevant education or training.
