Position Overview

The Ohio State Universitys School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences invites applications for a tenure-track faculty member within our Division of Health Sciences and Health Information Systems and Learning Health Systems Collaborative at the Assistant Professor rank. We are seeking faculty who will teach within the division, MS and PhD programs in the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences consistent with expertise, mentor students in each program, develop and sustain an extramurally funded and productive scholarship program as a principal investigator and co-investigator with the Learning Health Systems Collaborative through publications and presentations, and contribute to service needs of the School, College, University and appropriate professional organizations. We are especially interested in faculty members who have scholarly interests in health sciences, specifically in areas such as applied use of data science and artificial intelligence technologies in the context of learning health systems, quality improvement, health promotion, aging, and public health. Additionally, we are seeking individuals with experience in health services research and health informatics, particularly those with skills related to the curation of electronic health records and use of artificial intelligence technologies for clinical and educational support.

Performance Objectives
  • Maintains active scholarship: Presents scholarly work at local, regional, national, and international meetings; publishes scholarly work in books and journals; and writes and/or serves as co-investigator or principal investigator on intramural and extramural grants.
  • Develops, plans, and delivers core and elective courses within the School of Health and Rehabilitations Division of Health Sciences and Health Information Systems and MS/PhD programs; and participates in curriculum design and revision.
  • Actively participates in service to division, school, college, university, professional and community organizations; and other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience Requirements

Required: PhD or equivalent in health and rehabilitation sciences or a related field; evidence of strong teaching ability (including distance/online); an established record or strong evidence of the ability to achieve an extramurally-funded and productive scholarship program in a health sciences and health informatics-related field; ability to mentor undergraduate and graduate students, and experience partnering in a data analyst or data scientist function for learning health system and quality improvement initiatives.

Desired: Scholarly expertise that complements division faculty including health promotion, aging, body composition, exercise science, nutrition, health services and data analytics, and the scholarship of teaching and learning especially as it relates to emerging developments in the field of artificial technology. Experience as a clinician and with supporting immersive/experiential learning within clinical settings as a clinical mentor or preceptorare also strongly desired.
