Basic Description

We are seeking a creative and energetic individual to be our Development, Operations, & Communications Associate at College Possible Washington. This position works closely with the Sr. Development Director to achieve annual revenue goals and manages marketing and communications.

The position supports the operational functions of development, working closely with the national external relations team in a matrixed environment to customize the design, messaging and strategy for Washington's constituencies and achieve the site's fundraising and communication goals. The primary focus will be on supporting community partner engagement through written communication, engagement activities, social media and administrative development tasks. This position will assist with the execution of the fundraising and communications plans.

Development responsibilities include planning and executing development events and activities, direct mail campaigns, generating reports, managing the donor database, analysis of donor giving, grant tracking, and supporting the writing and gathering of information for grant proposals and reports.

Marketing and communications responsibilities include content creation and management of social media, blog posts, newsletters, collateral pieces, and community partner reports. This position builds relationships with journalists and media outlets, providing timely and accurate information.This role drafts communication and This position assists with site photography and periodic professional videography.

College Possible WA staff work in a hybrid format. Site operations responsibilities include the day-to-day operations of the site: mail & office supply collection and disbursement, securing venue space, vendor & storage unit management, IT liaison, support staff on/offboarding, and other tasks as assigned.

The ideal candidate will be strategic, detail-oriented and able to organize, manage and prioritize deadline-driven projects as well as be an effective storyteller. This position reports directly to the Sr. Development Director and works very closely with the Sr. Program Director.

Essential Job Functions

Marketing/Communications (40%)



  • Create and coordinate cross-department collaboration to ensure consistent mission focused messaging that is audience-centered and relevant.
  • Responsible for content development, strategy and delivery - informed by engagement tracking and measurements - of communication vehicles including website, e-communications and social media.
  • Manage development, customization, distribution, and maintenance of all print and electronic collateral including newsletters, brochures, e-communications, and the College Possible Washington's website.
  • Collaborate with the development team in creation and implementation of individual donor strategies, including writing and designing direct mail appeals and donor communications.
  • Source and write student impact stories to elevate organization mission to College Possible audiences as well as potentially pitch to external news outlets.
  • Provide support to program team with marketing and communications needs.
  • Manage development and communications calendar to strategically integrate messaging to listserv, individuals, institutions and social media followers.
  • Attend College Possible events and activities to build on catalog of usable photos for collateral, social media, website, etc.
  • All other marketing and communications duties assigned.


Development Operations (40%)

Development:



  • Support individual giving program through direct mail campaigns, online giving programs and individual prospecting.
  • Support planning and execution of annual fundraising events.
  • Work closely with national office to process and acknowledge all local gifts.
  • Maintain and manage donor records in Salesforce database and shared files including grant tracking and reporting.
  • Collaborate with local and national finance and development teams to gather information necessary to report to all funders on grants and programs.
  • Create and run reports and analyze data to support better understanding of donor trends, next steps and forecasting.
  • Maintain relationship with WA site AmeriCorps alums-manage alum communication, coordinate invites to CPWA events and coordinate Alum Spotlights.
  • All other development duties as assigned.


Grants



  • Support the writing of grant proposals and reports.
  • Develop/maintain grants calendar to track deadlines, communication, and reporting.
  • Ensure that donor funder communications and follow up are timely and accurate.
  • Develop detailed understanding of College Possible WA's program and glean information from a wide range of sources that can be used to weave a compelling narrative and case for support through grant proposals.
  • Assist with grant research


Site Operations (20%)



  • Coordinate all space needs for staff specific uses. Collect and distribute all incoming mail and coordinate all outbound mail for the site. Coordinate all purchasing, receiving and vendor relationships for the site in keeping with organizational policies.Serve as the liaison with National IT for all technology needs for the site-distribution, troubleshooting, return, etc. Track annual operations expenses. Manage and support use of storage unit for all departments.
  • Coordinate all site functions and maintenance needs. Monitor, maintain and order office supplies and equipment necessary for day-to-day use. Be responsible for the general presentation of training spaces and storage unit.
  • Other duties: Provide support to each functional team as needed. Assist with other WA site operations as needed, including program support and administrative tasks as assigned.



What You Bring

Education/Certifications/Licenses:

Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Nonprofit Management, or related field required;

Related Work Experience:



  • Two to four years of experience in development, communications, marketing, donor relations or related field
  • Proven copywriting and editing acumen
  • Prefer experience organizing fundraising events and activities
  • Experience creating social media posts and newsletter content preferred
  • A strong track record of managing multiple projects and deadlines concurrently
  • Experience with a variety of communications channels including multimedia
  • Experience developing and implementing communications strategies a plus


Computer/Software Skills:



  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required
  • Experience with Salesforce fundraising, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, CRM and email marketing preferred
  • Other Skills, Abilities and Requirements:
