Job Description
This position reports to the Wilmington, MA or Mentor, OH office onsite at least three days per week (currently Tuesday-Thursday). This role requires working under the direction of the corporate IT Manager to implement and support network solutions for Heilind Electronics and all it's global employees and affiliates. We are seeking an experienced Network Administrator & Engineer to design, implement, and maintain our enterprise network infrastructure. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing and optimizing network performance, supporting Cisco equipment, troubleshooting connectivity issues, and ensuring robust security across all network components. This role requires expertise in network architecture and design, SD-WAN solutions, and performance troubleshooting to ensure seamless operation of our telecommunications and data systems. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties as assigned.
- Manage and maintain Cisco network equipment, including, but not limited to, switches, routers, wireless controllers, and firewalls.
- Support wireless infrastructure. Configure, monitor, and troubleshoot wireless networks and access points and manage bandwidth to ensure seamless, reliable, and high-speed connectivity
- Monitor and troubleshoot network performance issues, identifying and resolving bottlenecks.
- Design and optimize network architecture, ensuring scalability and redundancy.
- Implement and enforce security measures, including firewalls, VPNs, and access controls.
- Provide telecom support, including voice and data services, VoIP, and unified communications.
- Configure, deploy, and support SD-WAN solutions for secure and efficient network connectivity.
- Perform routine network audits, updates, and configuration changes to ensure optimal performance.
- Collaborate with IT teams and business stakeholders to align network services with operational needs.
- Assessing network usage and scaling infrastructure to accommodate growing demands.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements for network security and reliability.
- Perform accurate and detailed logging and tracking of all changes and incidents in the landscape
- Perform firmware & software updates, keeping network switches, routers, wireless devices, and related infrastructure updated to maintain performance and security.
- Maintain asset inventory, warranty, and contract maintenance logs on all equipment.
- Provide accurate, timely, and professional resolution on all reported issues per IT SLA's.
- Manage day-to-day operations and lifecycle of network LAN/WAN/Firewall/telecom and related equipment
- Assisting employees or customers with connectivity issues and ensuring smooth operation.
- Role will require periodic off-hours and weekend support.
- Perform other job duties as assigned with a high degree of flexibility and professionalism.
Requirements
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5+ years of experience in network administration and engineering, supporting enterprise environments.
- Hands-on experience with Cisco technologies, including switches, routers, and firewalls.
- Experience with SD-WAN solutions and network performance optimization strategies.
- Familiarity with telecom services, VoIP systems, and unified communications.
- Certifications such as Cisco CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent are highly desirable.
SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- Expertise in configuring and troubleshooting Cisco networking equipment.
- Strong understanding of network protocols, routing, switching, and security best practices.
- Experience designing and implementing scalable network architectures.
- Proficiency in network performance analysis, monitoring tools, and troubleshooting methodologies.
- Ability to diagnose complex network issues and provide solutions efficiently.
- Knowledge of SD-WAN solutions, VPN configurations, and firewall management.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills for cross-functional collaboration.
- Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines.
- Must be a US Citizen due to US Naval Contractual Agreements.
- Work Schedule 8am--5pm M-F, and on call for emergencies.
- Must be able to report to Wilmington, MA or Mentor, OH office and work onsite during scheduled days Tuesday -- Thursday (remote Mon & Fri)
- Working knowledge with Microsoft Office products, Exchange, SharePoint\OneDrive, Windows Server, Active Directory, and Cisco wireless.
- Ability to solve problems and see projects through to completion.

- Ability to manage, track & prioritize multiple projects/tasks.
- Team player with ability to work independently.
- Must be able to provide at least two professional references that will attest to the staff's interpersonal skills, work ethic, ability to work on a team, leadership skills, integrity, ability to multitask, ability to accept and learn from feedback.
- Ability to successfully pass a background check.
