Mining Engineer Consultant

As a Mining Engineer Consultant, you will provide technical and engineering support within the Bureau of Mine Safety to ensure operations are conducted efficiently, effectively, and towards the goal of ensuring the safety of underground miners and the public. In this position, you will perform highly advanced analytical, developmental, and consultative reviews to mining engineering problems. Your duties will include providing mining engineering leadership and coordinating with others for complex agency projects. You can expect to ensure the safety of underground miners and the public by providing engineering and technical support. Additionally, you will provide technical reviews of mine plans ranging from roof control, ventilation, and mining operating systems.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment
• Work hours are 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
• Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 3 days per week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in New Stanton.
• Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• Two years as a Mining Engineer or Mining Engineering Supervisor (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
• Five years of professional mining engineering experience.
