  • Summary/Primary Objective of Position:
    The Associate Director assists The Artistic Director in Arts Center/Minnetonka Theatre productions and operations, and heads-up the district elementary musical program, the high school one-act play festival, and nurturing K-12 student interest in theatre arts.

    Job Responsibilities:
    1. Serve as Assistant to the Director on all main stage productions, managing and co-coaching a large group of theater student participants (upward of 250).
    2. Supervise, direct, and facilitate the organizational and artistic requirements of the 4-5 grade District Elementary Musical Theatre program for Minnetonka Theatre.
    3. Facilitate and oversee the organizational and artistic requirements for MHS participation in the MSHSL One Act Competition.
    4. Assist the Artistic Director in developing a positive environment and culture through supporting and cultivating year-long arts opportunities (and communications) with students grades 4-12.
    5. Perform other duties of a similar nature or level as needed or assigned.

    Qualifications:
    1. Evidence of a Bachelor's Degree in arts administration, directing, theatre management, musical theater, business administration and/or related experience.
    2. Evidence of successful experience in theatre business management commensurate with the responsibilities of the position.
    3. Evidence of computer competency and proficiency.
    4. Evidence of other theatre skills in tech theater (building, lighting, sound, etc.), costuming, hair/wig styling, or make-up, marketing/PR, a plus.
    5. Evidence of the ability to supervise and work well with students.
    6. Evidence of the ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with a variety of people.
    7. Evidence of the ability to assume initiative problem solving.
    8. Evidence of the willingness to work a flexible schedule (including evenings and weekends) as required of the position.
    9. Strong communication skills and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisors, the public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.

    Pay and Benefits:
    This position is benefit eligible and has a starting salary of $57,500.
