The OR Supply Chain Manager is responsible for leading and managing supply chain activities within the operating room and surgical services. This role focuses on inventory management, ensuring clinical integration, and fostering collaboration between supply chain and clinical teams to enhance operational efficiency and patient care. The manager will also lead a team, conduct inventory analytics, and serve as a liaison between surgical staff and materials management.

Essential Job Statements

Leadership:
Is the primary point of contact, representing Supply Chain Operations within the OR/Procedural Space.

  • Responsible for level setting expectations for the team members of the OR Supply Chain area to maintain Standard operating procedures.

  • Monitor performance in accordance with mentors and trainer to ensure that performance is meeting the level of expectations for the OR Supply Chain Area.

  • Provides management of the department's function, staff and/or shift supervision in accordance with VCUHS policy.

  • Responsible for employees' performance reviews

Operational Management:

  • responsible for overseeing all aspects of the OR Supply Chain, including staffing, inventory management, and supply chain processes. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills and a comprehensive understanding of surgical operations, ensuring that the highest standards of patient care are maintained.

  • Manages supply chain operations to ensure compliance with supply chain policies, processes, and regulatory requirements.

  • Implements tactics to meet business plan targets, and monitors performance of inventory levels, cycle counts, and improvement plans to reduce inventory levels and number of SKUs.

  • Oversite of the Implant Coordinator who is responsible for the implant stocking, reorder and receipt process of implants at designated locations.

  • Works with the Value Analysis team to develop system-wide processes that manage product conversions, standardization, and utilization targets.

  • Ensures that developed processes improve supply utilization, contract compliance, and maximize integration and standardization of products.

  • Understands Supply Chain operations' technology platforms and coordinates with supply chain analysts and information systems to optimize supply chain operations.

  • Oversee inventory management, ensuring that all surgical supplies are adequately stocked and available while implementing supply chain management strategies to optimize the procurement processes.

  • Develop and maintain policies and procedures related to operating room management.
    Ensure compliance with safety regulations and standards within the operating room environment.
    Communicate with surgical staff, vendors, and physicians to ensure the availability of supplies for scheduled cases.

Miscellaneous Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrates the ability to perform other duties as assigned and/or participates in special projects to support the mission of VCUHS and the Department.

Employment Qualifications

Required Education:High School Diploma or Equivalent

Preferred Education:Bachelor's Degree in Logistics/Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Finance or related Field.

Minimum Qualifications

Years and Type of Required Experience: Minimum of five (5) years of previous medical Supply Chain work experience, preferably OR/Procedural Unit.Minimum of three (3) years of previous work experience in management within the OR Materials Supply Chain. Proven experience in a managerial role within a healthcare or surgical environment.

Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:Previous work experience in a JIT inventory program.Previous experience using a personal computer with Microsoft office applications and automated inventory/tracking system.

Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:Five (5) years of previous management/supervisory work experience.Previous experience in development of annual budgets, forecasts, and other business-related activities.

Combination of education and experience in lieu of a degree.

Working Conditions: Periods of high stress and fluctuating workloads may occur. General office environment. Required to car travel to off-site locations, occasionally in adverse weather conditions. May have periods of constant interruptions.
