- Considerable knowledge and an understanding of a wide variety of organizations, jobs and people.
- Has experience working directly with background vendors.

Position Summary |
The Senior Managing Consultant for Transaction Services'
elevated role provides professional consultation for human resources that support the university and department in achieving stated goals and objectives. With increased responsibilities within the Senior Managing Consultant role, this position will not only continue to fulfill the essential job requirements but will lead initiatives that align human capital with organizational goals and efficiencies.
This role is instrumental by leading the efforts and oversight of background investigation processing within
UHR. This role will consistently review and update standard operating procedures (SOPs) surrounding escalated background check review. This includes internal review of backgrounds (standard and escalated cases) and oversight of the escalation to the Background Investigation Officer (
BIO) and the Background Investigation Committee (
BIC). This role will also act as a point of escalation and a collaborator between Transactions Team members and leadership (both Transactions leadership and Senior-level leadership, when applicable). Additionally, this role will be a main point of contact for the background vendor representative(s).
Elevated HR Sr. Consultants understand and can effectively execute the decisions associated between HR programs and activities with minimal supervision. This progressive role produces collaborative work relationships and responds to internal and external client's needs consistently and accurately. This role is a point of escalation for background investigation processing and compliance within the Services team and
UHR. This role is able to provide guidance not only due to the technical knowledge of the work but is able to operate autonomously as a result of the successful, acquired understanding of the policy and procedures surrounding background investigations.
Elevated HR Sr. Consultants enhance the Services team's experiences and benefits UGA's campus at large. The role interprets and acts on policies and practices with alignment to the organization's best interests and advises internal and external clients to make decisions impacted by laws, policies, procedures, and research. This role facilitates, negotiates, develops, and takes related actions to solutions to human resources issues, up to and including the background investigation processing.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Strong contributor by proposing, creating and implementing process improvement changes with regard to procedures dictated by the USG Background Investigation policy.
- Oversees the process and meeting preparation for background investigation reviews for the Background Investigation Officer (BIO) as well as the Background Investigation Committee (BIC).
- Leads training efforts for team members whose focus area is background investigations. Works with fellow Transactions team Seniors regarding cross-training and leveraging resources.
- Gather and analyze data in response to background investigation audits, such as PCard audit or other annual reviews, as well as background data upon request. Organizes and presents findings, questions, and/or feedback through Transactions leadership or others as appropriate.
- Excellent organizational and communication (written and verbal) skills, communicating with subordinates, peers, and executive-level leaders.
- Participates in the Services Leadership meetings, up to and including providing regular presentations of areas of focus and impacts.
- Proven ability of work performance standards and is an established resource to work with employees, UHR leaders, and for campus partners. Fosters these relationships to drive business processes and HR initiatives.
- Demonstrates a high level of competency and can take the necessary actions across systems including current and previous background vendors, and other utilized systems as needed.
- Possesses a high level of integrity, discretion and sense of confidentiality. Is a role model for positive relations, confidentiality, trust and has the credibility of consistent, reliable work performance.

- Leads and manages service processes and controls; identify gaps and inefficiencies and takes actions to resolve these processes.
- Is a cross functional elevated role and a point of contact within Services, within UHR organizational teams, or with external partners on campus where applicable.
- Possesses an advanced knowledge of UHR Systems. Demonstrates a high level of competency of the unit and proficiency across multiple systems including current and previous background investigation vendors.
- Serves as a point of escalation within the Transactions team for Sr. Managing consultants and HR Managing Consultants. Partners with Assistant Director and Director as needed.
- Leads the coordination and the technical training of the background investigations within Transaction Services Team. Responsible for identifying gaps and addressing additional training opportunities with background investigation processes. Partners with other Senior Consultants on cross-training efforts.
- Responsible for reviewing both standard and escalated background investigation results and determining next steps for approval or further escalation.
- Oversees the background investigation escalation process with regard to preparation for the BIO and BIC meetings, respectively. This includes professional and timely communication with BIO and to BIC members.
- Communicates background investigation information and results as requested. Shares insights and makes outreach to candidates and department representatives when necessary.
- Makes decisions and takes actions necessary to perform background investigation resolutions. Involves vendor representative and/or Transactions leadership as appropriate.

- Runs reports and queries to ensure background investigations are processed timely and within service level expectations. Includes running reports in response to audits.
- Escalates vendor-related concerns with background vendor representative(s). Coordinates efforts with Assistant Director and Director.
