Ready to assemble your career with a global leader? Wabtec is hiring a skilled Assembler in Yankton, SD! As part of the team, you'll work on cutting-edge MESABI Heat Exchangers, contributing to projects that power the mining, oil, gas, construction, and heavy industrial industries. Whether you're testing heat exchangers, building crates, or assembling components, your hands-on skills will help drive production success!

Position Details:

Pay Rate: Starting at $17.50+ per hour (Based on Experience)

Employment Type: Direct Hire

Shift Options:

1st Shift: Monday - Friday | 6 AM - 2 PM

2nd Shift: Monday - Friday | 2 PM - 10 PM

3rd Shift: Sunday - Thursday | 10 PM - 6 AM

What You'll Do:

As an Assembler, you will:



  • Test heat exchangers for performance and reliability.
  • Build crates using hand and power tools, ensuring secure shipment.
  • Install grommets using grommet guns and fit tubes with precision.
  • Assemble fans, belts, motors, RTTS exchangers, and capture seal oil coolers using electric power drive units.
  • Observe, guide, and assist with training to support team growth.
  • Collaborate with other assemblers, supervisors, and the production manager.
  • Adhere to all safety guidelines and maintain a clean, efficient workspace.
  • Assist in other production areas as needed based on qualifications.
  • Domestic and international travel opportunities may be available depending on project requirements.

What We're Looking For:



  • Education: High School Diploma or GED.
  • Experience: At least 1 year of work experience with strong mechanical ability.
  • Skills:

    • Proficiency with power tools and forklifts.
    • Basic understanding of blueprint reading.
    • Ability to read tape measures, calipers, and micrometers.
    • Problem-solving skills and a proactive, self-motivated work ethic.
    • Good communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
    • Reliable attendance and a commitment to safety.





Physical Demands:

This role requires:



  • Lifting a minimum of 50 lbs.
  • Standing on concrete surfaces for 8-10 hours.
  • Working in high-heat conditions.
  • Operating power tools while standing, twisting, crouching, using step ladders, or holding equipment overhead.
  • Wearing appropriate PPE: earplugs, protective eyewear, steel-toed boots, gloves (when necessary), and a company-provided uniform.
