Overview

Auditing seeks a diligent and dedicated individual who consistently demonstrates a strong work ethic and a high level of integrity to join the Construction and Contractor Activity (CCA) section of Auditing. The Project Auditor is responsible for performing moderate to complex internal auditing work (e.g. compliance, operational and construction assurance audits as well as perform advisory services). The candidate's work shall be in line with Auditing's mission and vision to provide customer-focused value-added audit and advisory services that are objectively conducted with a high level of professionalism and in compliance with ethical and professional standards, including those by the Institute of Internal Auditors. The candidate will contribute to the development of the annual risk-based audit plan and will lead other Auditing team members to ensure internal audit activities comply with organizational standards. The candidate must maintain strict confidentiality and demonstrate sound judgment both in character and actions.

Responsibilities

Core Responsibilities
  • Conduct moderate to complex audits, from planning, fieldwork to reporting, perform recommendation follow-up audit work, and other projects concurrently. Ensure safe work practices are followed. Apply appropriate sampling techniques and use of computer-assisted audit tools and techniques.
  • Demonstrate initiative, work independently, communicate effectively, and give presentations to different levels of management and internal or external groups as an Auditing representative.

  • Develop risk-and-control matrices and prioritize efforts by the identification of key controls and the development of appropriate strategies to test the design and effectiveness of those controls.
  • Ensure audit workpapers are complete and supporting documentation is cross-referenced to the record of work done. Ensure workpapers adequately support audit observations, conclusions, and recommendations and consistently meet the requirements of the Institute of Internal Auditors as detailed in their Global Internal Audit Standards.
  • Prepare clear, concise, and accurate audit reports that require minimal editing for finalization. May assist in the review of draft reports prepared by other auditors.
  • Continuously complete training in auditing and other subject matter areas to meet certification requirements, improve the ability to perform good quality audits, and to meet the departmental training goal.
  • Contribute toward team results, work well with others, and encourage other team members.
  • Conduct audits at all Con Edison, Orange & Rockland, and Con Edison Transmission locations. Perform other related assignments as required, including work on Company project teams.
  • Assume leadership role(s) on audits, projects, and other team/departmental initiatives. Mentor and train others in audit related functions.
  • Must remain objective and independent while performing their work and will be required to sign Auditings Conflicts of Interest Disclosure and IIA Domain II: Ethics and Professionalism Acknowledgement Attestation Form when joining Auditing and annually thereafter

Qualifications

Required Education/Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree and 5 years of relevant experience
Preferred Education/Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree and 5 years of relevant experience in auditing, business, or utility experience.
Relevant Work Experience
  • Experience in an operating organization such as Electric, Gas, Construction, Central Operations Required
  • Well-developed communication skills, both written and verbal, and applies them in practice. Demonstrates excellent listening skills Required

Licenses and Certifications
  • Driver's License Required
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Preferred or
  • Other: Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) Preferred
Physical Demands
  • Sit or stand to use a keyboard, mouse, and computer for the duration of the workday
Additional Physical Demands
  • Must be able to respond to Company emergencies by performing a System Emergency Assignment to restore service to our customers.
