This is an excellent opportunity for a Communications and Media Specialist (40 hours/week) at our Jackson Street Administration Office in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and our Doty Street Administration Office in Madison, WI.

PPWI's compensation philosophy is rooted in equity. Starting offers are determined by both the candidate's applicable experience and internal equity. The Communications and Media Specialist pay starts from $25.50 per hour.
Additional $1.50 per hour for bilingual (English/Spanish)
PURPOSE OF POSITION:
This position is responsible for supporting and executing communications strategies for internal and external communications in alignment with agency mission and strategic goals. Individual ensures communications are inclusive and representative of the communities we serve. This individual works extensively in supporting the work to move our internal and external communication strategies forward to meet the needs of the organization.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Possess a strong commitment and understanding of the comprehensive, voluntary, sexual and reproductive health programs and a person's freedom to make personal health care decisions, including abortion.
- Must be committed to excellent customer service and the mission, vision and values of Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin.

- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and verbally.
- Experience developing internal and external communication strategies.
- Demonstrated ability to develop communication plans in order to elevate an issue, brand, or message to various communities and audiences.
- Demonstrated experience with developing and executing inclusive communication strategies.
- Must be able to maintain confidential information.
- Must be able to work collaboratively and develop and maintain interpersonal relationships with multiple constituencies, including Black, Indigenous, Latinx,Asian, LGBTQ+, andeconomicallydisadvantagedpopulations, etc.
- Must have the ability to simultaneously manage multiple projects and urgent, unexpected needs in a collaborative, fast paced environment.
- Experience with Microsoft applications such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint preferably in MS 365.
- Experience with applications such as Social Media Platforms, EveryAction, Canva, Adobe Suites, RENXT, SignageLive, and Sprout Social.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- A bachelor's degree in journalism, public relations, communications or other related discipline required, with one year of related work experience.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired may be considered.
- Bilingual written and verbal skills in Spanish/English a plus.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The position is predominantly sedentary requiring the ability to sit, bend, stand and walk. May require occasional stooping, reaching, stair-climbing. Requires repetitive motions of the hands and wrist related to writing and typing on a keyboard. Rarely requires kneeling, pushing/pulling and repetitive motions of the feet.
Physical demands of the position necessitate hearing, talking, handling and grasping regularly. May require lifting up to 30 pounds. Specific vision conditions include close vision reading. Requires the ability to operate a computer, telephone, fax, copy machine and adding machine or calculator.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
The position is generally performed in an office environment but involves frequent interruptions. The work environment characteristics are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this position. Occasional evening and/or weekend hours may be necessary.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Manage internal communications including newsletters, memos, etc.
* Draft content for mass media or company websites
* Help develop and lead the implementation of an internal communications strategy that adds to PPWI and PPAWI culture and fosters employee engagement while communicating the organization's policy, program aims and priorities
* Participate in the collaboration of internal and external communications
* Ensure management and leadership are equipped to deliver messaging and communications to their teams
* Drive understanding and engagement among internal and external audiences via messaging
* Manage communication sponsorship processing and budgeting
