Position Overview:

The Shop Foreman will work as part of a team to provide superior service and stakeholder satisfaction through responsibility for the day-to-day manufacturing operations. The Shop Foreman provides leadership, technical support and fosters growth and development based on Inland's values, while providing excellent customer service. In addition to supervisory responsibilities the Shop Foreman is expected to perform manufacturing duties consistent with their core area of expertise.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Including but not limited to):

  • Supervise daily manufacturing operations as well as provide leadership and coaching to increase overall safety, performance, productivity and efficiency.
  • Create daily work schedules, follow standard manufacturing and refurbishment procedures.
  • Assign duties and monitor performance of resources ensuring they understand and carry out work assignments in accordance with instructions, policies, previous training or accepted company practices and procedures.
  • Develop, maintain and ensure that fellow employees follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) and complete job hazard assessments (JHA's).
  • Resolve manufacturing and refurbishment problems and answer workers' questions about processes, methods, or equipment.
  • Investigate bottle necks in production, identify development needs in projects, documentation gaps and opportunities for improvement and communicate solutions to management.
  • Deliver training for new processes or equipment.
  • Implement and follow up on procedures to maximize productivity in a cost-effective manner ensuring daily, weekly and monthly production goals are met.
  • Maintain quality by establishing and enforcing organization standards and report any issues or inconsistencies to management.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • 10+ years' experience with core manufacturing processes, mobile equipment maintenance or relevant technical experience.
  • Previous supervisory and/or management experience.
  • Understanding of Inland products, processes and procedures considered an asset.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to listen to others and value opinions, interpret documents including safety rules, operating and procedure manuals and provide a foundation of open communication.
  • Basic computer skills with working knowledge of Microsoft programs including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Ability to break down complex tasks into components that can be explained and easily understood by affected stakeholders.
  • Must have the ability to mentor and train personnel to accommodate future growth and expansion.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and technical problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to maintain quality and meet deadlines and must be detail-oriented and organized with the ability to prioritize; and attend/participate in meetings presenting a team player approach.
  • Ability to remain calm and perform under pressure within fixed time constraints.

Certifications/Licenses:

  • Valid driver's license
  • Red Seal/Journey Person certification considered an asset.

Physical Demands:

  • It is expected that the employee be physically fit and able to perform all operational requirements.
  • Position involves standing for extended periods of time as well as bending, kneeling, lifting, climbing, using hands to control tools and feel objects, reaching with hands and arms.
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull objects up to fifty (50) pounds occasionally and twenty (20) pounds frequently.
  • Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
