SEI is seeking an experienced and results-oriented Practice Management Consultant specializing in helping advisors and advisory firms successfully navigate business transitions, to join the Advisor Sales & Client Team.

SEI's Advisor Services team is committed to helping advisors and their teams grow, scale, and navigate key business transitions. This practice management role is tailored for individuals deeply passionate about the independent advisor profession, committed to ongoing learning, and able to leverage their expertise in business transitions to drive meaningful outcomes within advisory practices. An ideal candidate possesses a background as a financial advisor, business owner, or consultant with substantial real-world experience in advisor transitions.

The right candidate is excited about the opportunity to help build and evolve SEI's Advisor Services transition function and is willing and able to ideate, experiment, and execute solutions that deliver actionable advice and resources to advisors. We're looking for an individual who is an expert in advisor transitions-such as launching an RIA, succession planning, continuity planning, M&A, partner changes, selling or buying a business-with a track record of helping advisors make informed decisions and take confident action.

This role will direct the transition pillar of SEI's Advisor Services team and would have the opportunity to influence and support the other pillars of growth and scale. This role reports to the Managing Director of the Advisor Services Team within the Advisor Sales & Client Team. This role is ideally based in SEI's Oaks, Pennsylvania headquarters, but a remote role is possible and requires up to 25% travel.

What you will do:

  • Provide expert consultation, coaching, and education to independent advisory practices on transition-focused practice management topics, including launching an RIA, succession and continuity planning, partner changes, buying and selling a practice, M&A, and more.

  • Conduct thorough assessments of advisory businesses to identify transition opportunities, risks, and readiness, offering actionable and customized recommendations.

  • Develop and deliver engaging content including presentations, workshops, and training sessions to advisors and their teams on business transitions and related practice management topics.

  • Create scalable resources, tools, and educational content to help advisors plan for and execute successful transitions.

  • Build and manage strategic partnerships with external transition experts, consultants, legal resources, and valuation providers to deliver additional value to advisors.

  • Partner closely with the SEI Sales & Client Team as a value-add transition resource.

  • Direct and manage special projects on the Advisor Services Team related to business transition strategies. Specifically, own the buildout of an advisor transition platform in partnership with an external partner.

  • Act as a thought leader by contributing articles, webinars, and other educational content on advisor transition.

What we need from you:

  • A minimum of 10 years of experience helping financial advisors grow, scale, and transition their businesses through roles in consulting, coaching, practice management, or leadership within advisory firms.

  • First-hand experience with advisor transitions such as launching a RIA, partner transitions, internal and external succession, or M&A.

  • Deep understanding of the independent advisor and RIA landscape, including business, operational, and regulatory considerations in transition scenarios.

  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with an ability to present complex topics in a clear, confident, and compelling way.

  • Experience in multi-channel communication mediums, including individual face-to-face interactions, in-person and virtual one-to-many presentations, live video, recorded video, phone and email.

  • Proven track record of driving successful transitions and positive outcomes for advisory firms.

  • Strategic thinker with the ability to translate high-level strategies into practical, actionable advice and plans.

  • Highly collaborative, entrepreneurial, and growth minded.

  • Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time to support advisor events, presentations, and relationship management efforts.

  • This position is ideally headquarters-based in the Oaks, Pennsylvania Global Headquarters and requires up to 25% travel.

What we would like from you:

  • Professional certifications (i.e., CFP, CIMA, CEPA) are advantageous but not mandatory.

  • Familiarity with valuation, deal structure, legal, and operational elements of advisor transitions.

  • Experience designing educational content, playbooks, or decision frameworks to support advisor business transitions.

  • Proficiency in analyzing business data and metrics to inform transition strategies.

  • Someone who will embody our SEI Values of courage, integrity, collaboration, inclusion, connection and fun. Please see our website for more information, https://www.seic.com.
