Plate Shop Operator

Fincantieri Marinette Marine, a Fincantieri Marine Group Company, is a progressive shipyard specializing in building ships for the United States Navy.

We are seeking a skilled Operator.

The Plate Shop Operator is responsible for operating various machinery and equipment to cut, bend, shape, and prepare steel plates and other metal components for fabrication and assembly. This role plays a critical part in the production process, ensuring components are manufactured to precise specifications and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate heavy machinery such as plate rolls, shears, presses, flame cutters, CNC plasma/oxy-fuel cutting machines, and brake presses.
• Read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and fabrication drawings to determine material requirements and processing techniques.
• Measure, mark, and layout materials accurately using measuring tools and templates.
• Load and unload plate material onto machines using overhead cranes or forklifts.
• Perform routine maintenance and safety checks on equipment to ensure optimal operation.
• Inspect finished pieces for accuracy, quality, and conformance to specifications.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in accordance with company safety policies.
• Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to ensure workflow and deadlines are met.
• Enter production data and maintain logs as required.
