Job Description

This position is responsible to provide furnace clean-out, set-up maintenance support to Morgantown's Melt Shop Operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Clean-out melt chambers, feed systems, D.P. wings, ingot can, and other furnace areas as assigned.
  • Accept responsibility for setting up furnace chambers for production as assigned, including changing molds, feeders, shields, etc.
  • Clean and maintain E.B. Furnace viewports, sample lock valves, sample taker, and swivel feed-thru equipment to minimize the possibility of leaks and failures.
  • Learn to operate helium leak detectors and assist E.B. Furnace Operators with leak checking requirements.
  • Learn to operate the lid cleaning backhoe.
  • Inspect hearths, endblocks, molds, and dovetail puller assemblies regularly during clean-outs and/or after they are removed from a melting campaign.

Education & Experience:

  • High school diploma/GED required; trade school or additional training preferred.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude. Mechanical assembly experience highly preferred
  • Ability to work with heavy rigging, piping, weld and torch cut.
  • Forklift, crane-operating experience highly preferred.
  • Must be able to wear a respirator and work in confined spaces.
  • Lift up to 35 lbs
