Flint Hills Resources is looking for a Measurement Technician to support FHR Pipelines and Terminals. We seek a candidate with an entrepreneurial spirit and exceptional communication skills, capable of generating value for our organization. This role can be based in our San Antonio, TX, Dallas, TX, or Austin, TX office

What You Will Do

  • Install, maintain, and calibrate measurement instrumentation, including but not limited to, pressure transmitters, temperature transmitters, flow transmitters, level transmitters and density transmitters.
  • Ensure accurate custody transfer of hydrocarbons for intra and intercompany movements in adherence with established Flint Hills Pipeline & Terminal policies and guidelines, applicable regulations and industry standards
  • Work with management and project groups to define and prioritize measurement improvement projects
  • Review and engage in testing new measurement technologies with external vendors to ensure FHR is current with industry advancements.
  • Participate in the development of Flint Hill's Measurement Plans for the phase out of obsolescent technology and implementation of new technologies to ensure measurement processes adequately support the operational and financial needs of the company
  • Review/audit metering systems to ensure end-to-end integrity and accuracy. Review proving factors, flow computer and LC computations, data transmission, SCADA computations
  • Identify any measurement errors, make necessary corrections to the volumes, and supply the relevant supporting documentation.
  • Evaluate all aspects of the assigned facilities to ensure precise measurement with a high degree of ownership
  • Ensure the design and construction of new metering stations meet business objectives and follow the appropriate guidelines for custody transfer (per contract and API guidelines where applicable) or leak detection as necessary.
  • Manage measurement-related routine workorder creation, distribution, and proper documentation.
  • Conduct Measurement assessments of operational sites to discover opportunities for improvement.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • 1-3 years of oil and gas industry experience
  • Experience managing multiple priorities and multitasking
  • PC skills, including proficiency with Microsoft 365 Applications and measurement-related software
  • Ability to work overtime and be on the on-call schedule as needed by the business unit
  • Position requires travel of up to 25%

Physical Requirements:

  • Physical ability to frequently stand, walk, lift, carry, push, pull, reach, handle, bend, twist, climb, and balance; to occasionally sit, kneel, crouch, and crawl
  • Ability and willingness to utilize Personal Protective Equipment (for example: hard hat, safety glasses, fire retardant clothing, respirator, safety work boots, etc. as required)
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds (with frequent carrying of up to 25 pounds)
  • Is able to respond to audio alarms, or other loud noises that would indicate a safety concern
  • Must be able to communicate hazardous conditions and other dangers
  • Must be able to work near moving mechanical parts, work in wet or humid conditions (non-weather) and outdoor weather conditions, work in high, precarious places and work around fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals

What Will Put You Ahead

  • 2+ years of experience in measurement, instrumentation, and electrical within the industry
  • 2 or 4- year degree in a technical-related field
  • Experience with liquid and gas flow computers, and communications to PLC and SCADA systems
  • Experience with various types of metering such as positive displacement, liquid turbine, helical turbine, Coriolis metering, differential pressure meters and ultrasonic
