Job Title: Hand Packer II

FLSA Status (US): Non-Exempt

Department: Operations

Reports To: Production Manager

Summary:

In this role, you will be a valuable part of our production team as a team leader/Trainer ensuring our production quotas are met in a timely fashion while observing the highest standards of safety and quality. You are expected to be on time for your assigned shift, able to perform physical tasks that are repetitive, and lift up to 50 lbs on a regular basis.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Add packaging materials to the carton erector as needed maintaining constant production flow.


  • Packages materials and products manually into cartons by hand.


  • Starts, stops, and regulates speed of conveyor and cartoner machine.
  • Glues, or closes and seals containers.
  • Packs special arrangements or selections of product.


  • Inspects materials, products, and containers at each step of packaging process.


  • Follow procedures as per the SOP's (Standard Operating Procedures)
  • Ensure all packaging functions are operating at maximum efficiency
  • Ensure date code function is operating correctly
  • Verify production schedule, raw materials, and product specifications
  • Ability to read, interpret, and understand technical manuals
  • Train all new incoming Hand Packer I employees
  • Able to work on all lines as a Hand packer / Lug setter
  • Follow company GMP's (good manufacturing practices) and all other quality programs as they relate to the production department
  • Ability to work independently with little or no supervision and as a member of a team
  • Wear PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) when required
  • Responsible for ensuring work area is clean and organized
  • Strictly adhere to all Safety policies (i.e. Lock Out Tag Out, Machine Guarding, etc.)
  • Committed to ensuring that the products produced meet all food safety and quality requirements


  • Asist with other duties assigned by supervisory staff

Qualifications:

  • Flexible schedule and willingness to work 2nd and 3rd shift preferred
  • Must be available for nights and weekends/occasional overtime
  • Capable of reading and understanding production documents and safety manuals
  • Basic math, reading, and writing skills
  • Basic computer skills
  • Good communication skills
  • Willingness to comply with all safety guidelines at all times
  • Physically capable of manual labor that includes lifting, bending, and reaching
  • Able to lift 50 lbs on a regular basis
  • Able to work 8 hour shifts standing
  • Reliable and punctual
  • Positive attitude and willingness to work as part of a team



Education:

High School Diploma/GED

Experience:

Manufacturing experience preferred.

Knowledge and Skills:

Candidate must possess basic math skills. Be detailed orientated with good communication and interpersonal skills.

Work Environment/Physical Demands:

Majority of work is performed standing. Must be able to frequently lift up to 25 lbs to 50 lbs and be able to climb and descend staircases multiple times per hour.
