The Stroke Program Coordinator shares the responsibility of administering all aspects of the Neurosciences/Stroke program. The Program Coordinator is responsible for formulating short term and long-term strategies to ensure the organization's vision, mission and values are carried out through the delivery of high-quality cost-effective patient care for the neurosciences service line with a high level of integrity. The Stroke Program Coordinator is responsible for assuring all neurosciences/stroke center standards are met as required by the Joint Commission and meet center of excellence (COE) designation by meeting the standardized set of ten performance measures for stroke patient care. The position is responsible for the coordination of the quality assurance process, program development, planning, organizing, implementation, assessment, patient flow and performance improvement of the service line. The position is also responsible for utilization, community outreach, patient advocacy, staff and physician education and marketing communications. The Program Coordinator provides ongoing patient tracking, and concurrent and retrospective charts abstracting for performance monitoring, The position will develop a long-term approach with the goal to reach an uneventful and successful progression for the patient from preadmission, through the medical management and/or surgery process, inpatient stay, and post operative/discharge to follow-up care. . This position is responsible for writing, preparing, and maintaining research proposals for stroke clinical trials for review by the Institutional Review Board. The position must be knowledgeable in program rules and regulations established by grant agencies and regulatory agencies such as the FDA and GCP guidelines. This position will be responsible for facilitating and overseeing stroke support group activities, education and research. This position will also interact with outside organizations including American Heart Association, American Stroke Association, National Stroke Association and additional organizations as assigned. This position performs other tasks related to research and neurosciences activities, as assigned. This position does provide patient care.
