Job Description: The Offboarding Manager is part of the HR Compliance Team, and responsible for overseeing all aspects of the employee separation process, including involuntary terminations, voluntary resignations, retirement, and reductions. This role ensures a smooth, compliant, and respectful offboarding experience while mitigating organizational risk. The ideal candidate brings strong knowledge of employment law, excellent communication and organization skills, and a thoughtful, process-driven approach to managing sensitive transitions. Responsibilities:
- Manage Separation Processes:
- Lead and coordinate offboarding activities for voluntary and involuntary separations, including last-day logistics, communication, and exit procedures.
- Draft, review, and manage separation agreements in collaboration with legal counsel and HR partners.
- Ensure all required documentation, notifications, and system updates are completed accurately and in a timely manner.
- Compliance & Risk Mitigation:
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and company policies.
- Partner with Legal, Employee Relations, and other stakeholders to manage risk related to employee separations.
- Maintain records and data to support audits, investigations, or legal proceedings as needed.
- Stakeholder Collaboration:
- Partner with Talent Business Advisors, Legal, Payroll, IT, and Security to ensure seamless transitions and coordination.
- Serve as the point of contact for Talent Business Advisors on offboarding protocols and separation agreement guidance.
- Process Improvement:
- Develop and implement best practices and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the offboarding experience and reduce organizational risk.
- Analyze data and trends related to employee separations and recommend process, technology, or policy enhancements.
- Employee Experience:
- Promote a positive and respectful exit experience for all employees, ensuring clear communication, confidentiality, and support throughout the process.
- Conduct or oversee exit interviews and analyze feedback for insights to improve retention and engagement strategies.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
- 5+ years of progressive HR experience, including employee relations and separation processes.
- Experience drafting and managing separation agreements and offboarding workflows.
- Strong knowledge of employment laws and regulations (e.g., FLSA, FMLA).
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to handle sensitive situations with discretion and professionalism.
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional projects and manage competing priorities.
- HR certification (e.g., PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP) preferred.

The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Crowe, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $95,500.00 - $195,000.00 per year.
