About the Role

As an HR Business Partner, you will play a critical role in aligning business needs and context with a clear and actionable human resources strategy. You'll work closely with leadership across our Underground operations and Kennecott Operational and Technical support areas to translate strategic objectives into tailored HR programs and interventions that drive organizational effectiveness and employee engagement.

Key Responsibilities

Reporting into the General Manager, People - Kennecott, you will be responsible for the following activities.

  • Translate business strategies and objectives into a comprehensive HR strategy with supporting programs to enhance team and organizational performance.
  • Serve as a core member of the leadership team, contributing to business planning and strategic decision-making.
  • Foster employee engagement by supporting leaders in shaping a positive work environment.
  • Identify risks and opportunities through data analysis, dialogue, and observation; diagnose root causes and implement strategic interventions.
  • Partner with leaders to drive and sustain change initiatives aligned with business priorities.
  • Collaborate with Areas of Expertise (AoE), Shared Services, and other internal partners to deliver effective HR solutions.
  • Monitor service delivery against SLAs and key performance indicators, ensuring high-quality outcomes.
  • Provide feedback on the effectiveness of HR policies, tools, and programs to help shape continuous improvement.
  • Act as a coach and advisor to leadership, challenging conventional thinking and encouraging innovative approaches.
  • Serve as an escalation point for complex or critical HR issues.

  • Deep expertise in HR Business Partnering, recognized for specialized knowledge and influence.
  • Proven ability to solve complex issues and deliver effective, data-driven solutions.
  • Strong collaboration skills with experience working across diverse teams and functions.
  • Leadership experience, including managing small project teams or workstreams.
  • Coaching acumen with the confidence to challenge senior leaders constructively.
