DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position you will be responsible and accountable for performing moderately complex clerical work which requires the processing of a variety of documents. The following job tasks are carried out within the Administrative Services Division of the Allegheny County Assistance Office under the general supervision of a Management Analyst 2. Receives and distributes mail and supplies to all district offices and divisions. Drives to deliver mail to districts, divisions and DHS affiliated Agencies. Processes all outgoing U.S. Mail for the districts and divisions. Prepares and processes certified mail. Prepares Harrisburg outgoing mail for courier delivery and operates a PC as well as operates and maintains the postage machine, copier and calculator.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week.
  • Work hours are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, with a 1-hour lunch.
  • Travel and overtime as needed.

  • Work Conditions: Assigned duties are performed in a controlled office environment. In counties with District Offices, employees may be reassigned to different work sites due to operational needs. Reassignments will be made in compliance with contract language.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting salary of $35,306 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Six months as a Clerical Assistant 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Graduation from high school; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Other Requirements:

  • Hiring preference for this vacancy may be given to candidates who live within Allegheny County. If no eligible candidates who live within Allegheny County apply for this position, candidates who reside in other counties may be considered.
  • Must possess a current driver's license which is not under suspension.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
