Purpose of the Job The Workday System Administrator serves as the technical subject matter expert for Workday HRIS. This role is responsible for system administration and optimization, reporting and analytics, providing end user support and training, ensuring compliance and data security, and participating in projects and work efforts related to Workday, including system implementations and integration efforts. Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Responsible for day-to-day system support, including setup, configuration, security, maintenance, reporting, user support, testing, troubleshooting, and other projects or responsibilities as required.
- Ensures effective use of the Workday system by identifying business needs and applying best practices to recommend solutions in response to business requirements.
- Leads the implementation, configuration, and maintenance of Workday HRIS modules including HCM, Talent Acquisition, Compensation, Benefits, Payroll, etc.
- Collaborates with cross-functional teams and represents the HR function on projects related to system implementations or integrations impacting the system.
- Ensures prioritization of change requests and evaluates the system-wide impact of any proposed enhancements by using best practices to meet business needs.
- Reviews enhancement and functionality changes, highlighting items of significance along with recommendations of enhancements to adopt.
- Continuously analyzes internal business processes to ensure optimal configuration.
- Actively participates in Workday Community, customer groups and networking events; leverages Workday network to identify best practices.
- Creates, analyzes, and utilizes various types of reports.
- Escalates issues/risks pro-actively and regularly communicates status and challenges to the appropriate people.
- Ensures system operations comply with federal, state, and local regulations, including data protection and privacy laws.
- Partners with Information Security department to implement and enforce data security measures to safeguard sensitive employee information.
- Develops and generates system reports and dashboards, including metrics related to employee data, payroll, and compliance.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Must have strong foundational understanding of HR best practices & ability to understand key HR concepts
- Must have expertise in configuring, maintaining, and optimizing Workday HRIS systems, including managing employee records, pay changes, status updates, and system enhancements.
- Must have sound understanding of system integration and how Workday interacts with other enterprise systems.
- Must have good knowledge in creation and maintenance of Workday Supervisory Organizations, Subordinate Supervisory Organizations, Locations, Company, Cost Centers, Business units and Organizational & Cost Center Hierarchies
- Must have strong problem solving, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Must understand and use qualitative/quantitative measurement and data collection design principles.
- Must be able to use effective approaches for choosing a course of action or develops appropriate solutions to issues that arise.
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Must have excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Must have excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Must have strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
Education and Background
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience required
- 3 years' experience in Workday Core HCM, Payroll, Benefits, business process configurations, Security, Time Tracking, Talent and Compensation, and super user administration required
- Experience in managing and maintaining Role Based Security, User Based Security, and Job Based Security Groups required
- Prior experience working on creating Compensation Rules, Compensation Components and setting up Compensation Segments required
- Prior experience in Workday cyclical activities including the annual compensation review, performance reviews, release management and any upgrade cycles required
