Purpose of the Job The Telecommunications Engineer II's role is to ensure the stable operation of the in-house telecommunications hardware and software. This includes, installing, configuring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing all telecommunications software and hardware to include all network switching and routing connectivity. This individual will work with the team to design, maintain, and implement improvements. This individual will also carry the main responsibility for maintaining and updating the Telecommunications Infrastructure throughout the Credit Union and act as lead for other Telecommunications Engineering staff. Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Manages the Credit Union's telecommunications long distance network.
- Manages and administers all phone systems including voice mail systems for host and branch offices.
- Implements, and administers all Unified Communication solutions to include but not limited to Enhanced Call Processing, Screen Pop, Automated Attendants, ACD queues and Skill Assignments.
- Manages and ensures the integrity of telecommunications equipment throughout the Truliant network.
- Assists Director with quotes and pricing from contractors and vendors for new installation and major upgrades or projects when required.
- Provides Tier 2 and 3 support for Telecommunications and associated applications.
- Performs configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of telecommunication software and hardware to include server administration and troubleshooting.
- Assists with Telecommunications and Network software and hardware installations when necessary.
- Coordinates Telecommunication troubleshooting efforts across internal and external support teams and vendors.
- Responsible for telecommunications asset management, including maintenance of telecommunications component inventory and related documentation and technical specifications information.
- Performs telecommunications backups and verification of completion to support the other Telecommunications staff.
- Monitors and tests telecommunications performance and provides statistics and reports.
- Recommends, schedules, and performs software improvements, upgrades, and patches.
- Maintains Contact Center applications and infrastructure.
- Maintains detailed documentation and design of data rooms, IDFs, cabling, racks, and equipment.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
- Assists with other tasks and projects as assigned.
- Provides assistance and training to Telecommunications I, Technician and Service Desk roles related to the administration and troubleshooting phone system hardware and applications deployed in the Truliant FCU environment as needed
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Must have working knowledge of concepts, practices, and procedures within the Genesys PureConnect and PureCloud suite of products.
- Must have working technical knowledge of current systems software, protocols, and standards, including the Microsoft Operating system, TCPIP protocol and Compression Codecs.
- Must have working knowledge of Session Boarder Control systems to support SIP communications
- Must have strong knowledge of Local Area Network (LAN) and Wide Area Network (WAN) administration.
- Must have detailed experience and knowledge of Windows servers.
- Must have detailed knowledge of Ethernet and Fiber cabling best practices.
- Must be able to understand Building and Cabling blue prints.
- Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Suite of products to include Visio.
- Must have working knowledge of Cisco Webex and Cisco Video Conferencing.
- Must have general knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws.
- Must have excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
- Must be adept at reading, writing, and interpreting technical documentation and procedure manuals.
- Must have ability to conduct research into software issues and products as required.
- Must have proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Must have ability to make decisions and work independently.
- Must be able to evaluate systems and procedures, implementing efficiency enhancements.
- Must be detail oriented and well organized.
- Must be able to work in a general office environment.
- Must be flexible and able to shift resources and priorities as required.
- Must have a valid driver's license.
- Must be able to complete all assignments with minimal supervision.
- Should possess a strong commitment to providing excellent service to Truliant's members.
Physical Requirements
- Occasional standing, walking, bending, and stooping required.
- Must be able to sit at a desk for long periods of time and use a computer.
- Must be able to moderately lift or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 30 pounds.
- Must be able to travel between Truliant locations as needed.
Education and Background
- Bachelor's degree or at least 6 years equivalent experience required
- Tier 2 and 3 software and hardware troubleshooting experience required
- Experience with data management required
- Additional router, switch, and server certifications or experience preferred
- Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment preferred
