Primary Purpose of the Organization:
The Strategic Enrollment and Student Success ( SESS) unit is dedicated to recruiting, retaining, supporting, and graduating students efficiently and effectively, in alignment with the goals set forth by the university's strategic plan. This office seeks to attract and enroll a highly academic class of new and continuing students with outstanding ability and potential to address the challenges and opportunities presented by a rapidly changing society.

The mission of the SESS is to provide critical services to students, parents, and visitors to FSU throughout the student lifecycle, from identifying prospective students through graduation and beyond. SESS offices and units are at the intersection of vital Academic services that can positively impact student outcomes, reduce time to degree, promote awareness of FSU's brand beyond North Carolina, and improve institutional effectiveness. SESS utilizes a collaborative and integrated approach to student success, pursuing organizational excellence, and creating strategic partnerships designed to improve academic momentum, retention, transfer, and completion rates of FSU students, with a focus on scaling evidence-based practice for first- and second-year populations.
Primary Purpose of the Position:
The Executive Director of Adult Learners, Transfer, and Military Students provides leadership and strategic direction for services that support non-traditional students, including adult learners, transfer students, and military-affiliated populations. This role is responsible for developing and implementing student-centered policies, building internal and external partnerships, and designing programs that promote student success. The Executive Director collaborates with key campus units, such as faculty, student affairs, financial aid, IT, and admissions, to streamline services and advocate for student needs. The role also oversees a small team, manages communication and outreach, manages the budget, and ensures a welcoming and efficient environment for students. The ideal candidate will be committed to continuous improvement and may take on additional responsibilities that advance the university's mission and support student success.
Minimum Education And Experience Requirements:
A master's degree and three years of professional-related experience, OR a bachelor's degree in an appropriate academic discipline and a minimum of five years of professional-related experience.

  • Budget management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at the same time.
  • Ability to plan, implement, and assess the effectiveness of Adult Learners, Transfer, and Military Affiliated student population.
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with administrators, faculty, and external
  • constituencies.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A master's degree and three years of admissions, advising, or student success experience
  • Special event planning experience.
  • Student programming experience.
