About the Position:

We are seeking a Finishing Machine Operator - Milling (Planer Operator) who is responsible for performing various tasks to set up and operate assigned machines; Operates manual milling equipment according to established procedures and processes to accurately finish material to customer specification; Ensures quality via quality check post finish. Job complexity ranges from simple, highly repetitive tasks to repetitive but difficult tasks, congruent to incumbent's experience.



  • Calibrates appropriately to complete accurate layout and centering of material per customer drawing/spec sheets.
  • Loads and unloads material with the aid of a forklift, magnets, chains, slings, or an overhead crane, positioning material as required.
  • Able to read and understand track sheets and work with crew lead, and supervisor on due dates.
  • Understands how to set up parts level and square for machining.
  • Inspects the quality of the material during and after the procedure being performed to the material.
  • Uses measuring instruments as necessary including, but not limited to measuring tape, laser level, and standard levels.
  • Checks identification on all material handled by stamping or marking with necessary numbers when required.
  • Delivers material to next area of operation as required.
  • Maintains a clean and safe work environment and abides by all plant safety regulations and work rules.
  • Performs safety inspections on cranes, chains, slings, and magnets.
  • Perform chipping and grinding of molds to customer specifications: remove any excess iron, clean grooves inside molds, patch damaged sections, grind out excess, finish grind, chipping work.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.



Minimum Requirements and Qualifications:



  • Must pass measurement test.
  • Must be able to work with Safe work habits.
  • Able to perform work of a semi-repetitive nature using 7 to 8 lb. chipping guns.
  • Able to read blueprint drawings.
  • Able to withstand prolonged periods of standing and bending and heavy lifting.
  • Must be able to pass physical requirements.
  • Must be willing to work flexible hours and mandatory overtime.
  • Ability to train and receive certification on Overhead Crane.
  • Ability to lift 30 - 60 pounds.



Education and Experience



  • High school diploma or GED
