As an actuarial intern within the valuation department at LGA, you will build foundational actuarial skills as part of the valuation process for Banner, William Penn, and all associated reinsurance entities. You will gain exposure to GGY-Axis, a widely-used asset and liability modeling platform throughout the insurance industry. There will also be opportunities to support special projects aimed at improving departmental efficiencies.

Responsibilities
    Assist with completing monthly and quarterly deliverables in support of Valuation. Complete financial statement closing deadlines accurately and timely.
  • Performing monthly reserve rollforward runs in Axis and present results in Excel workbooks for the Deterministic Reserve, a component of Principle-Based Reserving (PBR) under VM-20.
  • Evaluating the implementation of new Pension Risk Transfer (PRT) deals and premium trueups in Axis.
  • Performing attributions runs for Cash Flow Testing (CFT) in Axis, summarizing and analyzing results.
  • Maintain documentation of valuation procedures and perform trend analysis.
  • Provide support for reinsurance solutions including captive insurance companies and surplus relief, in addition to traditional forms of reinsurance.

  • Other duties as required.
Qualifications

Education

BS/BA in Math/Statistics/Accounting or related field

One SOA exam passed

Experience/Knowledge

None

Skills

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel

Programming capability in SQL or Python a plus

Team player on cross-functional teams

Excellent communication skills, both written and oral

Strong documentation skills / attention to detail
