Position Title: Assistant City Prosecutor (Fixed-Term Benefited)

The purpose of this position is to perform professional level work of substantial difficulty and exceptional quality with minimal supervision, including legal research, investigations, charging, litigation, motions, pleadings, bench and jury trials, appellate memoranda, negotiations with defense attorneys and pro per defendants, advising staff on routine matters and all other activities in conjunction with the prosecution of misdemeanor criminal cases.

The ideal candidate for this position will have:



  • A positive, team-oriented outlook.
  • Recent, extensive experience handling misdemeanor criminal cases.
  • Experience working in a prosecution office.


Please note this is a Fixed-Term (Contract) position that is eligible for benefits.

Other Requirements

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education:



  • Juris Doctorate from an American Bar Association (ABA) accredited law school


Experience:



  • Minimum of three years related experience. Requires a working knowledge of specialized practices, equipment and procedures.


Licenses and Certifications:



  • Membership in good standing in the State Bar of Arizona


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Experience in a municipal or government setting.
  • Experience performing criminal prosecution work.
