Founded in 1953, Hudson Valley Community College (HVCC) located in scenic Upstate NY is a multi-campus College with locations in Troy and Malta New York. In order to be considered an applicant for this position you must meet the minimum qualifications as stated in this announcement. HVCC does not support Visas. Applicants must currently hold an unrestricted employment authorization to work in the United States and appointment will be contingent upon completion of a background check.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR EMPLOYMENT:

To be considered, an applicant will have a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting or other related field with finance or business emphasis and four (4) years of fiscal management experience which includes general ledger account analysis in a fund account environment, preferably in a post-secondary educational setting utilizing SCT Banner software. Experience writing database queries and reports and supervisory experience is preferred. Experience with NYS Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) disbursement and reconciliation procedures is desirable.

NATURE AND SCOPE OF DUTIES:

The Assistant Comptroller reports to the Comptroller or Associate Comptroller and performs the following duties:

* Responsible for reviewing and approving finance transactions related to restricted funds.
* Analyzes, interprets and reconciles general ledger and financial accounts; responsible for the preparation of New York State's Annual financial report for community colleges.
* Responsible for the accounting and financial reporting for Federal Financial Aid programs including cash draw downs. Responsible for reconciliation of accounting records to student financial aid records and related reporting to the Federal Government to include the Department of Education's GAPS systems.
* Responsible for various business office function and work flow to include accounts payable and TAP accounting. Assists with the bank reconciliation process. Troubleshoots and works with the Accounts Payable and Purchasing departments when issues occur with processing payments from the college's online procurement or ERP system.
* Actively assists with the annual financial audit. Assists with the prepare of schedules and collection of data for audits.
* Provides back-up for the Associate Comptroller and Comptroller.
* As Assistant Treasurer (upon approval by BOT on annual basis) assumes responsibility for the authorization of college-wide disbursements, wire-transfers, etc.
* Performs other duties assigned by the Comptroller and/or Associate Comptroller.

This is a full-time 12-month, Management Confidential position with a salary range of $50,000.00 to $55,000.00.
