THE POSITION

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will undergo extensive training covering the various phases of wastewater treatment, equipment handling, safety measures, and adherence to regulatory standards. This role not only offers essential knowledge about environmental responsibility but also significantly contributes to protecting public health and conserving our natural resources. You will be part of a dedicated team responsible for overseeing the operation and maintenance of a wastewater treatment facility utilizing Sequencing Batch Reactor (SBR) technology, as well as managing the swimming pool complex, water distribution system, and associated infrastructure, including pump stations, sewage and water lines, and manholes, all within Ryerson Station State Park.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • This is a seasonal, full-time position, 37.5 hour work week, with no healthcare benefits.
  • The season runs from approximately March 2025 until November 2025 at which time the employee will be placed on leave without pay. The employee will automatically be returned to employment approximately March 2026.
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with a 30-minute lunch, 5 days a week.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Six months of building maintenance or trades experience; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Special Requirements:
  • This position requires possession of a PA class C Driver's License.
  • All employees must obtain, within the probationary period, a valid Operator's Certificate, or an Operator in Training Designation issued by the Pennsylvania State Board for Certification of Water and Wastewater System Operators as a wastewater treatment plant operator that is equal to or greater than the classification and sub classification of the wastewater system to be operated or maintained. (Wastewater System Class D Subclass 1,4.)

Other Requirements:
