Job Summary:

We are seeking a Part-Time Front Office Rep who is responsible for the critical organizational support to the Administration department. Duties include but not limited to:

  • Ensures a positive first impression by exhibiting a consistently positive friendly and open demeanor, conducive to greeting patients and visitors to the facility.
  • Manages medical records, ensuring all charts and record requests are completed within the required time frame. Obtains and scans documents into the EMR program.
  • Verify patient admission type and ensures the information matches the physician order. Makes corrections when necessary.
  • Verify authorization requirements for services from Health Plan and/or Medical Group and ensure authorization for admission or a pre-scheduled procedure from insurance company is obtained when required.
  • Verifies insurance coverage eligibility, benefits, and patient liability.
  • Informs patients 1-2 days prior to service of co-pay amounts and financial responsibility.
  • Calculates patient financial responsibility at time of service and paperwork.
  • Calculates patient liability and forwards to billing patient estimate.
  • Collects co-pays from patients upon arrival and balances daily cash.
  • Backup for the Receptionist and schedulers
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Work Schedule will vary based on scheduled cases, Monday - Friday 6:00am - 6:00pm.

Qualifications

EDUCATION/TRAINING/ EXPERIENCE

  • High School Graduate or equivalent required.
  • One (1) to Two (2) years minimum experience clerical medical office experience required. ASC experience preferred.
  • Experience in Insurance verification functions pre-scheduled procedures.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Proficient typing skills (50 wpm)
  • Medical Terminology Required.

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSE

  • Current Registered License with the State of California.
  • BLS certification required.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Demonstrates knowledge and ensures compliance with The Joint Commission and Title 22 standards and guidelines.
  • Demonstrates compliance with Healthcare policies and procedures at all times.
  • Ability to set priorities and appropriately organize workload and complete assignments in a timely manner.
  • Familiarity with basic medical laws and ethics, i.e. consents, confidentiality.
  • Knowledge of emergency procedures, medical terminology and medical abbreviations.
  • Demonstrates ability to relate to clinical personnel and medical staff, as well as ability to interact well with the public.
  • Must have knowledge of PC and applications.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills in the English language.
  • Effective interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area (BSP), circumference and volume.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
