Outpatient Mental Health Technician (MHT)

Emerald Coast Behavioral Hospital provides inpatient treatment services to children, adolescents and adults at our 86-bed facility in Panama City, FL and outpatient services to adolescents and adults at our outpatient centers located throughout the Florida Panhandle. Additionally, we offer specialized treatment for active duty military members through our Military Resiliency Program, specialized chemical dependency treatment and TMS therapy for chronic depression.

The Mental Health Technician (MHT) functions as an active part of the treatment team, providing continuous patient care, supervision, interaction, and role modeling to patients ranging in age from adolescent through geriatrics. The MHT ensures patients are checked in for group, and is able to intervene effectively in crisis situations. MHT's work under the direct supervision of the therapist on duty.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Actively supervise patients in daily activities. Recognize escalation and take preventive steps to reduce incidence or further escalation to patient.
  • Responsible for billing, patient census maintenance, upfront payment collections, and calendars as assigned.
  • Process and file loose sheets in patient medical records according to standard policy and procedure.
  • Act as a liaison between family, department, referrals sources, agencies, schools and other interested parties. Assure a safe, nurturing, clean, and supportive environment for patients and staff.
  • Answer phone and schedule patient assessments. Answer questions regarding clinic services to include knowledge of group leadership, counseling skills, psychopathology, cognitive-behavioral model, case management, crisis and behavioral management, and Military portocols and standards.
  • Observe patient behaviors, condition, & progress in a manner prescribed by policy and clinical standards and notify therapist of observations in order for proper documentation.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Prior health care experience preferably in an behavioral health setting preferred
  • Ability to work Monday - Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm
  • Ability to work at our Pensacola Outpatient Center located in Pensacola, Fl
