Description

The Director of Research Computing in the Department of Radiation Oncology is a senior technical leadership role responsible for overseeing the department's entire research computing infrastructure, including high-performance computing (HPC) and storage systems. Reporting to the Department CAO and Vice Chairs of Research, this position leads the design, development, and management of a state-of-the-art medical imaging research data center.

The environment includes a robust multi-CPU/GPU architecture with virtual and physical servers, supporting advanced parallel computation and housing a complex medical imaging information system with DICOM data and quantitative imaging features. The Director will manage both hardware and software solutions to enable efficient data ingestion, harmonization, model development, and deployment-driving innovation and performance across inter- and intra-departmental research initiatives.

Salary: $9,408.33 - $21,408.33 monthly

Qualifications

Required:

  • 10 years+ experience and proven success in high performance computing, including multi-CPU parallel computing and server virtualization
  • 10 years+ experience in designing and maintaining secure data storage solutions, including RAID file systems and disaster recovery strategies
  • 10 years+ experience in system security and governmental regulatory requirements
  • 10 years+ experience in design and implementation of systems and infrastructure with high uptime, for example, be able to architect systems to fail over in the event of hardware failure transparently or deploy upgrades/patches to applications without downtime
  • Familiarity with cloud computing architectures such as Amazon EC2, S3
  • Familiarity with PACS and related medical imaging and DICOM services
  • Windows, LINUX, and FreeBSD system administration
  • Experience in services/programs running under LINUX including: DNS, DHCP, Samba, LDAP, Apache, SVN, VNC
  • Experience with virtual machine management
  • Familiarity with network management, monitoring and protocols, including Cisco IOS
  • Strong system documentation skills
  • In a cutting-edge image analysis environment the computing needs are constantly evolving and the computing infrastructure requirements advancing to meet new challenges. The incumbent must have demonstrated problem solving, communication skills, and be able to learn and adapt to new software and systems
Preferred:
  • Familiarity with database administration and SQL programming, especially with EHR data including from EPIC Clarity Data Tables
  • Familiarity with Java and web programming as well as perl, python, shell and Visual Basic
