About the PLOT Internship Program

Our 12-week PLOT Internship Program gives you the opportunity to gain hands-on HR experience while focusing on a key project for the team. You'll conduct in-depth research, apply your skills, and present your findings directly to leadership. You will get to connect with interns in other areas of the business, and attend learning sessions to grow you as a student and employee. This is more than just an internship-it's your chance to make a real impact, build industry knowledge, and sharpen your abilities in a dynamic, results-driven environment. Successful completion of the PLOT program can also earn you a scholarship between $1,000 and $3,000!

What will I be working on?

As a Wilbur-Ellis Nutrition Intern, you'll gain hands-on experience in Quality Assurance while exploring different aspects of sourcing and food safety standards. You'll play a critical role in supporting a special project that will involve collecting, organizing, and reviewing documentation to ensure alignment with our sourcing and food safety standards. This is a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience in supply chain, sourcing, and regulatory compliance within the pet, livestock and aqua industries.

This internship offers a chance to share your creative, new ideas, contribute to meaningful projects, and make a real impact. At the end of your internship, you'll have the opportunity to present your projects, experiences, and recommendations to our leadership team.

What should I bring to the table?
We understand that as an intern, you may not have years of experience under your belt - and that's okay! We're looking for a college student majoring in Animal Science, Animal Nutrition, Agriculture, Food Science/Safety, Biology, Supply Chain, or a related field.

The ideal candidate will have:

• Strong organizational and critical thinking skills

• Attention to detail and the ability to manage confidential information

• Interest in regulatory standards, food safety systems (e.g., HACCP, FSMA), and supplier management

• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and SharePoint or equivalent tools

You'll make a difference through...

• Supporting the gathering and evaluation of supplier documentation, including food safety plans, audits, and certifications

• Collaborating with FSQR and Sourcing teams to identify gaps or inconsistencies in supplier programs

• Helping organize a centralized database for supplier quality documentation.

• Assisting in drafting summaries, reports, and action items from supplier reviews

• Participating in cross-functional meetings to understand how sourcing and food safety intersect

Working conditions...

• Remote or based at one of our Nutrition manufacturing facilities.

Compensation and Benefits:

• In compliance with all states and cities that require transparency of pay, the base compensation for this position is $18 - $24/hr. Note that wages may vary based on location, skills, and experience. This position is eligible for vacation, holidays, health, dental, vision, mental health, retirement plans, and other benefits.
