The Role:

The Head Flyman is responsible for overseeing the safe and efficient operation of the fly system in a casino showroom environment. This position requires a highly skilled and experienced individual to manage all aspects of rigging, flying, and handling of set pieces, props, and scenery during live performances and special events. The Head Flyman works closely with the show production team, technical staff, and performers to ensure seamless execution and the highest standards of safety.

Responsiblities:

Fly System Operations:



  • Operate the fly system (manual or automated) during rehearsals, performances, and events, ensuring smooth and precise movement of scenery, props, and set pieces.
  • Ensure all rigging and fly systems are set up, tested, and maintained to meet safety standards and production requirements.
  • Coordinate with the stage manager and lighting/sound teams for precise timing of fly cues during live performances.
  • Provide guidance on best practices for rigging, safety, and show execution.


Safety Compliance:



  • Enforce strict safety protocols related to rigging, lifting, and flying of scenic elements and equipment.
  • Conduct regular safety checks and equipment inspections to ensure all rigging gear is in good working condition.
  • Respond quickly and effectively to any safety incidents or malfunctions during performances.


Collaboration with Production Teams:



  • Work closely with the scenic designers, production manager, and technical director to assess and implement scenic requirements for shows.
  • Collaborate with the lighting, sound, and stage teams to ensure coordination and precision for all fly cues.
  • Attend production meetings and rehearsals to understand the artistic and technical requirements of the show.


Equipment Maintenance and Troubleshooting:



  • Assist with the maintenance and repair of fly system equipment, ensuring it meets all industry standards and works flawlessly during shows.
  • Troubleshoot any issues with the fly system during rehearsals or performances and implement corrective actions as necessary.


Event Management:



  • Ensure the fly system is set up and operational for special events, concerts, or promotional activities held in the showroom.
  • Manage additional responsibilities for corporate or private events that require fly system support.



Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in fly system operations, rigging, or stagecraft in a live performance environment, preferably in a casino or theater setting.
  • Proficiency in the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of both manual and automated fly systems.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience managing and mentoring a team.
  • In-depth knowledge of safety standards and best practices for rigging and lifting.
  • Ability to work under pressure and in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Flexible schedule with availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Certification in rigging or related fields is preferred (e.g., ETCP Rigging Certification).



Language Skills:

Ability to read and interpret documents in English, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to read and communicate verbally in English. Written communication skills in in English may also be required.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations:

Employee must be able to qualify for licenses and permits required by federal, state and local regulations.
