Position Summary:

Working independently and collaboratively with others, this position plays an integral role in executing our mission, philosophy, and commitment to providing high quality products and exceptional customer service to our internal and external customers. In addition to maintaining a high level of trust, integrity and ethical standards, all employees are also expected to promote a culture of safety by following all safety procedures, protocols and guidelines while working in a manner that minimizes the risk of damage to property and injury to the employee and others.

The Fabrication Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the daily operations of the fabrication department to ensure production goals, and customer quality and delivery expectations are met efficiently and safely. This role involves managing a team of fabricators, ensuring compliance with quality standards, maintaining equipment, acts as a safety role model and optimizing workflow processes.

The Warn Group is a fully committed team-based organization. The Fabrication Supervisor must be a role model, leader, and coach. The Fabrication Supervisor is accountable to the Manufacturing Manager for team performance, and they must accomplish team objectives through team leadership and development.

Essential Functions:

The essential functions of this position include leading a group of Fabrication team members in a cost-efficient manner while supporting the development and maintenance of the plant. Prioritizing, and completing all essential functions in a timely and efficient manner, adjusting for changing priorities and availability of resources, and demonstrating initiative and application in continuous improvement in each aspect of the position's span of control.

Working in conjunction with the Manufacturing Manager:

  • Supervise and coordinate fabrication operations and personnel to meet production schedules.
  • Monitor and enforce safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Ensure quality control standards are met throughout the fabrication process.
  • Plan and allocate resources effectively to optimize productivity and minimize downtime.
  • Train and mentor fabrication team members to enhance their skills and performance.
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to address design and manufacturing issues.
  • Maintain accurate records of production, materials, and equipment maintenance.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve operational issues as they arise.
  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to team members.
  • Review production schedules to meet production objectives, maintain quality and attain output requirements.
  • Delegate team members to specific tasks.
  • Coach team members development and performance evaluations to provide personal growth & enhance the team's capabilities, with the support of the Manufacturing Manager. Participate in the decision-making process for hiring, terminating, training, team member motivation, counseling and team members supervised. Will follow and support The Warn Group's Affirmative Action Plan for hiring and training.
  • Responsible for ensuring clear communication between shifts and working collaboratively with other members of leadership in the facility.
  • Leads team members in problem-solving activities that enhance safety, quality and productivity objectives. Support safety, quality and productivity objectives through problem solving.
  • Supervises teams in a manner in that supports company and business unit strategies, extending the Warn Group strategic vision to team members.
  • Manages team members in a manner that supports a positive work environment for all team members.
  • May perform duties that support Internal Quality audits and may be expected to join the Safety Committee as well as performing safety inspections and audits.
  • Occasional travel may be required, and duties can flex between assigned shifts/teams as needed to meet company goals.
  • Accountable for developing and monitoring processes and practices necessary for legal and ethical compliance in assigned areas.

Required Education and/or Experience:

  • Three or more years proven leadership experience in a supervisory or managerial role, in a manufacturing setting.
  • College coursework in Lean manufacturing, APICS, Quality systems preferred, not required.
  • Five or more years of relevant experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and customer service skills with the ability to work within multi-discipline and/or cross functional teams.
  • Must have the ability to work independently with minimal supervision and handle stressful situations effectively.
  • Strong knowledge of fabrication processes, materials, and equipment.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
  • Proficiency in using fabrication tools and machinery.
  • Familiarity with health and safety regulations and quality standards.
  • Problem-solving skills with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

Availability Requirements:

Due to the nature and scope of the essential functions of this position, the importance of personal interactions with coworkers and direct reports, and the availability of job-related tools, equipment and resources at work, performance of the essential functions requires regular, consistent availability, accessibility, and presence on-site and after-hours.

The required number of hours per week will vary depending on what is required to efficiently perform the job duties of this position. This position will require availability and accessibility to respond to and address emergencies and critical situations outside of normal business operating hours in the early mornings, evenings and/or during weekends and holidays.
