The Department of Transportation is actively looking to hire a Driver License Examiner Assistant in King of Prussia. This vital role supports the PennDOT Driver License Examiner in enhancing highway safety by facilitating the processing of customers at the Driver License Center. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

The role of a Drivers License Examiner Assistant is situated within a Driver License Center, where the primary focus is to deliver driver licensing services and related assistance to the public. This position entails a range of responsibilities, including professionally greeting customers and engaging directly with them to verify identification, assist in completing application forms, and inputting data into online driver license application systems. The assistant is also tasked with distributing relevant forms and informational brochures tailored to the specific needs of each customer. Additionally, the assistant administers standardized knowledge tests to assess applicants' comprehension of motor vehicle regulations, driving laws, and traffic control devices, while also conducting vision screenings using a telebinocular instrument to ensure visual acuity for all applicants.

Furthermore, the assistant is responsible for accurately entering test results and customer applications into online software systems via a PC terminal. They must independently address inquiries and concerns from the public, demonstrating a thorough understanding of the services offered and the requirements for each, including the criteria for obtaining REAL ID and non-REAL ID products. The assistant provides essential information regarding various services, such as driver's license renewals, duplicates, out-of-state transfers, motorcycle licenses, and commercial driver's licenses (CDLs), while being well-versed in the specific restrictions and endorsements associated with commercial licenses. Upon request, they generate Restoration Requirements Letters for customers who visit in person.

Moreover, the assistant is tasked with ensuring the correct fee waiver codes are applied and documented whenever a fee waiver is necessary for processing customer transactions, adhering strictly to the Fee Waiver Guidelines. Compliance with all aspects of the Driver and Vehicle Services Customer Service Policy is mandatory. The role may also require working overtime and traveling to other Driver License Centers as needed, while consistently processing transactions in accordance with REAL ID regulations. Maintaining a clean and organized workspace is essential to uphold the professional standards of the center.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:15 AM to 4:45 PM, Tuesday - Saturday, with a 30-minute lunch 12:00 PM to 12:30 PM.
  • This position may require overtime and travel.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year of experience obtaining, evaluating, and providing information to the public.
