Job Overview

Title: Janitorial Facilities Maintenance Technician - Process Support 2

Reports to: Maintenance and OHS Manager

Location: Kent, WA - onsite

Type: Non-Exempt, Full-Time

Schedule Type: Monday - Friday, Day Shift. Ability to work overtime as needed - including weekend support.

Hytek production is open 24 hours per day. Normal Shifts are as follows: 1st shift (Monday - Friday, 6:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.), 2nd shift (Monday - Friday, 2:00 p.m. - 10:30 p.m.), 3rd shift (Sunday - Friday, 10:00 p.m. - 6:30 a.m.)

Position Summary

The Janitorial Industrial Maintenance Technician will support daily operations by performing general maintenance tasks and facility cleaning duties. Responsibilities include routine preventative maintenance on equipment, basic repairs, facility inspections, and janitorial upkeep. This role is ideal for someone who is mechanically inclined, detail-oriented, and takes pride in maintaining a clean and safe work environment.

Responsibilities

Maintenance Duties:

  • Perform routine preventative maintenance tasks, such as changing belts, filters, and lubricating machinery.
  • Assist with basic repairs and equipment troubleshooting under the guidance of senior maintenance staff.
  • Conduct regular inspections of equipment and facility safety systems.
  • Complete fire extinguisher inspections and assist with safety equipment checks.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and report issues promptly.
  • Support equipment cleaning and preparation as needed for surface finishing processes.
  • Monitor inventory of maintenance supplies and tools, and report restocking needs.
  • Build racks using appropriate metal for processing parts through chemical tanks.


Janitorial Duties:

  • Clean and sanitize restrooms, breakrooms, and common areas.
  • Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors throughout the facility.
  • Empty trash and recycling bins regularly.
  • Clean windows, surfaces, dust equipment and work areas.
  • Maintain cleanliness of facility entrances, loading docks, and exterior walkways.
  • Ensure proper storage of cleaning supplies and maintain safe working conditions.


General:

  • Comply with safety regulations, follow OSHA guidelines, and maintain clean and orderly work areas.
  • Work collaboratively with the maintenance and production teams.
  • Participate in safety meetings and training as required.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned or needed.



Qualifications

  • Excellent accuracy with a strong attention to detail and demonstrated teamwork attitude.
  • Ability to use and learn tools and techniques to solve tactical and strategic problems and issues arising in this position.
  • Must have the ability to read, write and communicate in English - including the ability to read written purchase orders and paperwork.
  • Must have a regular and dependable attendance record.
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check and pre-employment drug screening.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. An export license may be required to work in all areas of the facility.



Education/Previous Experience Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED and completion of a craft apprenticeship, or an equivalent number of years of education and production maintenance experience.
  • Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn basic equipment maintenance.
  • Prior experience in maintenance or janitorial roles is a plus but not required.

Hearing protection required when working some areas of the facility. Occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and fumes from metal finishing chemicals. Temperatures in the work environment can fluctuate with outside weather conditions. Due to the manufacturing environment, Personal Protection Equipment may be required including safety glasses, goggles, aprons, rubber boots, gloves, and respirator (provided by Company).

Salary Range for position: $21.00 - $33.00. Position in the range depends upon experience level.
